Description
Sandy Creek Park is located on one of the quieter coves of Lake Travis, in the scenic Hill Country of central Texas. This 25-acre park is an ideal spot for swimming, nature walks, birding, camping, and fishing. Boaters and overnight campers will appreciate the park's easy accessibility to the basin area of Lake Travis, as well as its close proximity to Austin. At the same time this park offers a serene, wooded environment away from the heavier boat traffic found on other sections of the lake. Sandy Creek is home to several rare bird and plant species, including the endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler. A hike along the wooded bluff and shoreline provides a good view of the lake.
Camping
Overnight camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are required.
Ground fires are permitted as seasonal conditions allow, but visitors are required to bring in their own firewood. Cutting or gathering of firewood, including kindling, is not allowed.
In an effort to allow all park visitors to enjoy their stay at Sandy Creek, we ask that overnight campers arrive by midnight and keep vehicle traffic to a minimum after dark. Quiet hours are strictly enforced between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am. All radios and generators must be turned off at this time.
Special Notes
There is no boat ramp.
Glass containers and fireworks are prohibited in all Travis County Parks.
