Mansfield Dam Park

The ramp is closed to all trailer launching.

We will allow vehicles with trailers to go and view the ramp, but will not allow them to launch; we will direct them to Pace Bend or Dink Pearson parks, where they may, at their own risk, attempt to launch from the shoreline.

Visitors bringing watercraft into the park in the back of a truck or otherwise not on a trailer and who wish to put the watercraft into the lake will be granted PEDESTRIAN ACCESS ONLY to the ramp.

Directions

From the intersection of RR 620 and FM 2222, travel south 4.9 miles. Turn right onto Mansfield Dam Road, just south of Mansfield Dam. The park entrance is on your left.

Day use is 8:00 AM to civil twilight (dark)
Boat Ramp is Sunrise to civil twilight (dark).

Description

As its name suggests, Mansfield Dam Park is located adjacent to Mansfield Dam on the main body of Lake Travis and serves as one of the primary access points for boaters. Other popular attractions are picnicking, swimming, and sunbathing.

Open on May 20, 2000 this newly renovated recreational area boasts a wide array of amenities for the public. Planners of Mansfield Dam park have skillfully created a park which accommodates many groups, including scuba divers, swimmers, boaters, picnickers, and nature enthusiasts.

Set back from the water's edge, a central recreation area offers picnic sites, a playground, horseshoe pits, chess tables, and a panoramic view of the Lake Travis basin.

Still the deepest, most accessible boat ramp on Lake Travis, Mansfield Dam's boat ramp will increase from two lanes to four with an adjoining wheelchair-accessible courtesy dock to make lake launching easy. Also, parking capacity has been increased to accommodate 112 trailer-towing vehicles.

The day use area of the park offers picnic tables with barbecue grills, including several with covered shelters, tucked amid the canopies of native trees. Picnic sites and lake access are easily reachable by strolling along the meandering hike and bike trail to the location of your choice.

Diving is almost as easy as stepping right from your car door into the lake. We have provided dive stairs, a wheelchair-accessible ramp, and a courtesy dive lift to ease the trek from hillside to lakeside. Underwater amusement has been enhanced by the addition of four underwater dive platforms at various lake levels. Also, an underwater trail and compass course will be laid out to connect dive attractions such as sunken boats, historic dam construction materials, and geological points of interest.

The western peninsula of Mansfield Dam park enjoys some of the most beautiful views of Lake Travis. Wander along our hike and bike trail to a peaceful pavilion surrounded by trees and vines. This is an excellent spot to appreciate the view, watch the wildlife, or read a book.

Special Notes

For safety reasons, no access to the dam is allowed.

Potable water, pay phones and an informational kiosk located at the dive park entrance.

The boat ramp is quite active during peak boating season. On busy weekends and holidays, some delays for launching boats can be expected.

Dogs and other pets are permitted in the park, but must be kept on a leash and not left unattended. Glass containers and fireworks are prohibited in all Travis County Parks.
