Texas Recovery Initiative (TRI)OverviewThe purpose of the multi-phase Texas Recovery Initiative is to gather information and recommendations for designing protocols that implement holistic, recovery-oriented models of care for use within the behavioral health community. An essential characteristic of a recovery-oriented model is that it be based on an individualized, multi-disciplinary recovery plan that is developed in partnership with the person receiving these services and any others he or she identifies as supportive of this process. COMPLETE: Phase One - Stakeholder Meetings and SurveyThe initial phase included a series of community and workgroup meetings consisting of providers, stakeholders, academics, and recovery support groups. The first three meetings were held in Dallas on October 4th, Lubbock on October 11th, and Houston on October 19th, addressing the following topics:
Phase Two: Task Force MeetingsThe second phase includes two meetings scheduled to take place at the DSHS Headquarters-Moreton Building (PDF) (7th Floor Board Room), 1100 West 49th Street, Austin, Texas. The Board Room is equipped with teleconferencing capabilities to accommodate outside interested parties. The first meeting was held on October 31, 2007 (see “Meeting Documentation” below) and the second meeting will be held on November 12, 2007 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Membership of the Task Force includes treatment and recovery support providers (contracted and non-contracted), stakeholders, and representatives of affected state agencies. The final task force meeting is scheduled to take place at the DSHS Headquarters-Moreton Building (PDF) (7th Floor Board Room), 1100 West 49th Street, Austin, Texas on December 12, 2007 from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
