Tenor Performs at Versailles and La Scala

Richard Croft, College of Music professor of voice and an internationally renowned tenor, performed at the reopening of the newly refurbished opera house in the Chateau de Versailles in France in September. He sang Mozart arias at the 18th century opera house, which was closed in 2007 for repairs and refurbishing. This performance at Versailles will be followed by a performance of the title role in Mozart’s Idomeneo at La Scala, the famous Milan opera house.

 

Musicology Faculty Recognized by Konex Foundation

Bernardo Illari was recognized by the Konex Foundation as one of the "most important personalities in the last decade (1999-2008)of classical music in Argentina."

 

UNT Jazz Student Wins Grammy

On February 8th, 2009, UNT graduate student Duane Hargis was the proud recipient of a Grammy award, together with his band Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution.

Chamber Music Program Development in China

Dr. Gene Cho was awarded a grant from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to support the "Capacity Building for Undergraduate and Graduate Study Abroad Chamber Music Collaboration" program to establish a Chamber Music program at South China’s University of Technology College of Arts. Ten College of Music faculty and students will engage in a collaboration focusing on performance practice, theory, ethnomusicology, music pedagogy and chamber music repertoire.
