Those glowing previews from the other day hinted at the brilliance of Burial’s new Truant EP, and now the London producer has dropped both of his latest devastating/sprawling multi-part suites a few days early. Listen to both new tracks by purchasing them from Hyperdub here. And this is why I guess we shouldn’t post our year-end lists until the year ends.

Is it bad that we now get suspicious (of what, I don’t know) every time a mysterious band emerges from nowhere with a sound and focus as seemingly fully-formed as on this lovely, smoldering debut from new London trio London Grammar? Thanks to yvynyl for the heads up.

Along with the welcome news that Grouper’s out-of-print masterpiece Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill — one of our favorite albums of the last decade or so — will see its fourth pressing early next year courtesy of Kranky comes word that Grouper will also release a new record called The Man Who Died In His Boat, an LP of unreleased material from the Dragging era. We just happened upon the stunning title track that’s apparently been floating around in mp3 form for a few years, and it has us very psyched for the record. The Man Who Died In His Boat is out on February 4 via Kranky. 2013 should be a good one.

Teaser for what, we’re not sure. The Knife say:

“Music can be so meaningless.
We had to find lust.
We asked our friends and lovers to help us”

Year-end list decompression time courtesy of this soothing track from Oneohtrix Point Never, whose “I Only Have Eyes for You” deconstruction was one of the most beautiful and moving things we heard all year. “Blue Drive” originally appeared on this split cassette release, and the track also makes an appearance on 0PN’s limited/sold-out Rifts 5xLP vinyl box set. Grab it [via XLR8R], and listen to 3 more selections from Rifts below:
