2009 Conservation Awards Poster Contest

2009 Texas Conservation Awards

Each year, the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Association of Texas Soil and Water Conservation Districts sponsor the Texas Conservation Awards Program to recognize and honor those who dedicate themselves and their talents to the conservation and wise use of renewable natural resources.

The conservation awards program provides competition and incentives to expand and improve conservation efforts, resource development, and increase the wise utilization of renewable natural resources. As a result, soil and water conservation districts, and both rural and urban citizens of Texas are benefited.

Poster Contest

The Poster Contest is open to boys and girls, ages 12 and under. The contest is designed to demonstrate the importance of conservation and taking care of their surroundings, while giving them an opportunity to use their artistic ability.

The two choices of themes for students to choose from this year are "Water Wise" and "Celebrate Conservation." The posters will be judged at the local soil and water conservation district level with winners sent to area-level competition. The state winner will be selected from the winners of the five area competitions.

For more information, see the Poster Contest entry form (PDF), or visit the stewardship week or NACD Poster Contest webpage for additional details and images of past national winners.
