The Chamber Music Roundup in Fort Worth provides an opportunity for amateur musicians of all levels to enjoy working in chamber music groups with faculty other music lovers and to learn great compositions written for small ensembles. The tuition fee of $400 includes supervised rehearsals, lectures, master classes, optional orchestra reading, extended education class, master classes, and final performance.

The 3rd Annual ASG Songwriter Conference hosted by the Austin Songwriters Group will be held this year on Nov. 17-19 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Austin, Texas. The conference comprises classes and workshops featuring top songwriting and industry professionals as instructors. The conference kicks off on Friday evening with a concert featuring some of the songwriters/instructors. Past performers and songwriter instructors have included Country Music legend Sonny Throckmorton, Monte Warden, Will Sexton, Stephen Doster, Sara Hickman, Kimmie Rhodes, Jim Photoglo and Freebo among others. There are workshops on topics ranging from publishing to song pitching and performance to songcrafting and all things in between intended to benefit the developing songwriter. Texas Rebel Radio Network is gearing up for its 7th annual Windows on Texas! Windows on Texas is a four day music festival and industry conference showcasing some of the best emerging talent in Texas and this year is going to be bigger and better than ever. Join us Thursday, January 15th thru Sunday, January 18th as we showcase some amazing Texas talent. The event will kick-off at the Auslander Restaurant & Biergarten in Fredericksburg with the Charlie Shafter Band. We will have several showcases all weekend long with a big culminating bash with none other than headliner Hal Ketchum at Luckenbach Dancehall on Sunday, January 18th. Some venues this year include the Auslander Restaurant & Biergarten, Luckenbach, Hondo's on Main, August Es, Bell Mountain Tasting Room, Bonterra, Red Baron's, Becker Vineyards and many more pending. The Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities born between 1982 and 1992. All applications must be submitted before December 1, 2008. The jury for the competition will consist of prominent European and American judges. Musical Requirements are two etudes, one nocturne, one ballade, one waltz and one contestant's choice. The Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities born between 1982 and 1992. Cash prizes will be awarded to First, Second and Third Place winners. First and Second Prize winners are eligible to compete in the 2010 Grand Prix Competition. Get ready for a toe-tappin' good time on Saturday, January 17th at the 14th Annual Opry Night in Smithville, Texas. The show gets underway at the American Legion Hall off Loop 230 at 7:00 pm and concludes with a dance until midnight. Local favorites will perform their live renditions of country classics made famous by such artists as Bob Wills, George Jones, Merle Haggard, George Strait, Patsy Cline, and many, many more. Backing these amateur artists will be a professional stage band, The Wink Tyler Band. In the tradition of the Grand Ole Opry, about a dozen artists will each perform three songs, reminiscent of those uproarious Nashville nights of the 1950s and 60s. The performances will take place between 7:00 and 9:30 pm. After a brief intermission, the band will strike it up again at 10:00 pm for the dance which concludes at midnight. Tickets are available in advance at the Smithville Chamber of Commerce for $12 each. Admission at the door will be $15 per person. Food and beverages, including beer, will be available to purchase from the American Legion. This event benefits the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Rio Grande Valley International Music Festival features educational concerts, classical, and pops. More than 10,000 Harlingen and other lower Valley area students can enjoy the six elementary concerts. Two programs are presented for first through fifth grade students. The McAllen ISD sends all elementary school children in the district, along with parochial, private, and outlying area school children, to the event. Teachers receive brochures and CDs to familiarize the children with the music they will hear. Featuring the The Valley Symphony Orchestra.

The 4th annual Concert for the Cure will take place Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Sunset Station in San Antonio. The lineup includes Eli Young Band, Paul Eason, Scott Wiggins Band, and Aaron Einhaus. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster, and 100% of the net proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and a program called Camp Discovery, which is a summer camp for children with cancer. Concert for the Cure is completely run by students from Trinity University. We also recently established the Concert for the Cure Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to help with fundraising for the event.

The San Antonio Talent Fest and Business Expo (formerly the Urban Music Festival -San Antonio) will take place January 29-31, 2009 in San Antonio TX. On Thursday January 29 we will present our "urban music night", January 30th we will host all live music, bands and acoustic sets. On Saturday January 31st all other artists not showcased will be presented. We will feature: artist showcases; entertainment business workshops such as asset protection, copyrights, music licensing etc.; a panel discussion and a model search. Our prizes consist of services that have proved to be beneficial to the contestants. In our first year our grand prize totaled over $4,000.00 and consisted of a hot air balloon ride, a three song demo, a photo shoot, a free 2 hour legal consultation and more. Our second year gave our winners their personal showcase and a three song demo among other prizes. Our third year awarded trophies to our winners as well as free piano rental, free voice lessons, free 2 hour legal consultation and a three song demo. Our merchandise vendors are have been a cross section of our community and have consisted of photographers, music producers, video production companies, attorneys, just to name a few and our talent has consisted of singers, singer-songwriters, dancers, and bands. Our talent represents and embraces all genres of music and all ages. Our goal is to constantly improve. Some of our grand prizes will consist of paid registration fees and or admission to other awards shows and music events such as the CMA fanfare in Nashville, TN. Some of speakers and workshop presenters have been Casey Monahan with the governor's music office, Spot Barnett, Johnny Martinez, Attorney David Garcia and more. Our goal is to educate, inspire, encourage and expose our contestants. We also encourage NETWORKING ! NETWORKING ! NETWORKING !

The Tenth Annual Zeta Zydeco Dance and Step Show held at Old Settlers, which is located at 3300 Palm Valley Blvd, Round Rock, TX 78665, is a family-friendly event. The event starts with the step show from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. before J.J. Caillier: The Zydeco Knockout takes the stage for an evening of Zydeco music mixed with rhythm, blues, old favorites, and more at 7 p.m.. Merchant vendors, showcasing everything from jewelry to home products add variety to the event. Zydeco tickets are available in advance for $10 or at the door for $15.
