AAP to Join 2010 General Annual Meeting with School Division Meeting in Washington

Monday, October 5, 2009

In an effort to maximize the opportunity for publishers to press their case with Members of Congress on a range of important issues including copyright, domestic and international piracy, reading and literacy initiatives, the impact of the open source movement, and the 2010 outlook for K-12 publishing, the Association of American Publishers has announced plans to coordinate the AAP 2010 General Annual Meeting with the Annual Meeting of the AAP School Division in Washington, DC on March 3, 2010. The meetings will be held at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

M. Luisa Simpson to Head AAP's International Copyright Enforcement Program

The Association of American Publishers (AAP) today announced the appointment of M. Luisa Simpson, an attorney with a strong background in intellectual property, trade law, and technology policy, as Executive Director, International Copyright Enforcement and Trade Policy. Ms. Simpson, who officially joins AAP on August 24, succeeds Patricia Judd who left AAP this summer to accept a teaching fellowship and pursue a career in academia.

Publishers Applaud WTO Decision in China Market Access Case

AAP Announces 2009 Independent Publishers Annual Meeting October Program

The Association of American Publishers (AAP) Committee for Smaller and Independent Publishers today announced the date and location of its 2009 Independent Publishers Annual Meeting entitled: “Book Publishing 2009: A Page-Turning Business.” The program will be held at the San Francisco Marriott in Union Square in San Francisco, CA on Friday, October 9.


Publishers Oppose Denial of First Amendment Protection to Speech Based on its "Value" Monday, July 27, 2009

The Association of American Publishers (AAP), joined by librarians, authors, booksellers and a range of content providers and distributors, has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to reject arguments by the government that a whole category of speech can be denied First Amendment protection when the legislature finds the “value” of the speech to be outweighed by the government’s interest in suppressing it.



Publishers Emphasize Importance of Copyright Industries to U.S. Economy
