The Travis County Commissioners Court has approved an order lifting the burn ban in Travis County.

Travis County Adopts FY 10 Tax Rate of 0.4215 on September 29, 2009

THIS TAX RATE WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 4.3% PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $12.30.  More...

Students Against Violence (SAVE) Coloring Contest

The Travis County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the Austin American-Statesman, is hosting a coloring contest for Travis County students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The contest will address bullying and conflict resolution with school-aged children in the Travis County area. Smoke outside and keep matches and lighters out of reach. Ask smokers to smoke outside. Have sturdy, deep ashtrays for smokers. Keep matches and lighters up high, out of reach of children, preferably in a cabinet with a child lock.

Veteran's Day Parade

The annual Veteran's Day Parade is coming up on Wednesday, November 11. The Parade welcomes any group that wants to show support for the troops. Just fill out the application and fax it to 512-854-4453. For more information call 512-854-9340. We can always use extra funds to help support this event as the parade is put on as a community service and uses donations for funding. Any monetary support you can provide will be put to very good use.
