Crime Victim Assistance Training

The Office of the Attorney General provides training to advocates, liaisons, and victim coordinators to ensure that victims receive effective assistance in accessing the Crime Victims' Compensation Program. This agency also sponsors a biennial conference for the victim service community. For conference updates, please check the agency's Conference Page.

Presumptive Eligibility Process

The Crime Victims' Compensation Program uses the Presumptive Eligibility (PE) process to better serve crime victims and their families. Completion of this workshop allows advocates, trained by the OAG, to work directly with victims to gather the necessary documentation in order to submit a complete application. Having a complete application streamlines the eligibility process and speeds our response to victims. This training focuses on eligibility requirements and is best suited for advocates working directly with victims.

Address Confidentiality Program

This training consists of an overview of how the Program works and instruction for advocates on how to properly fill out the ACP application. By statute, victims must contact local advocates to apply for the Program. All victim advocates should receive ACP training before assisting victims with completing an application.

Crime Victims' Compensation Advanced Track

CVC Advanced Track training is an overview of the Compensation program with an emphasis on the awards process. This is considered an advanced course and is best suited for those advocates that provided detailed follow-up with victims on payments as well as suitable training for service providers to better understand billing requirements. Bill processing and benefit payments including: medical; funeral; loss of wages; loss of support; rent/relocation; and all other payment types and necessary documentation will be discussed.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Training

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) are specially trained Registered Nurses (RNs) who provide medical forensic examinations for victims of sexual assault. Upon completion of their training and clinical requirements, the RNs will have the ability to apply for Currency of Practice Certification through the Sexual Assault Prevention and Crisis Services Department of the Crime Victim Services Division.

Regional Crime Victim Assistance Training

Crime Victims' Compensation training offers a detailed review of how to assist a victim with completing and submitting a Crime Victims' Compensation application.

Presumptive Eligibility &
Address Confidentiality Program

The first part of the workshop will consist of Presumptive Eligibility training that offers a detailed review of how to assist a victim with completing and submitting a Crime Victims' Compensation application. Special emphasis will be placed on Eligibility Section procedures including: standard application processing; Priority Processing; and Presumptive Eligibility. This workshop enables advocates and providers to access our presumptive eligibility process.

The second part of the workshop will provide an overview of how the Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) works and teaches victim advocates how to properly fill out the ACP application. All victim advocates must be trained on ACP before they can utilize the program. ACP helps victims of family violence, sexual assault, and stalking. It is a safety tool and one step to an overall safety plan. It is neither a witness protection program nor a guarantee of safety.

Resources for Victims of Family Violence,
Sexual Assault and Stalking &
Medical Billing Procedures Training

The morning session will provide a comprehensive overview of the Crime Victims Services Division and the resources available to victims of family violence, sexual assault and stalking. Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights, Crime Victims’ Compensation Program, VINE, Address Confidentiality, Protective Orders, Sexual Assault Reimbursement Exams and Sexual Assault Prevention & Crisis Services are a few of the resources to be discussed.
