Beginning early on Friday morning, pickin' and fiddlin' takes place all around the downtown square. Groups of people crowd around to listen while the players practice before the contest. Later in the evening, a professional country western band plays for the street dance. There are concessions and novelty stands along the sidewalks, and there's always a carnival set up just off the square. Please bring quilts or lawn chairs to sit on while listening to the music and renewing old acquaintances.
