Engineer Appointment ProcessEffective February 1, 1999, Pursuant to Chapter 2210 of the Texas Insurance Code and Title 28, Texas Administrative Code, Section 5.4604 (§5.4604) all Texas Licensed Professional Engineers must be appointed as a qualified Windstorm Inspector by the Commissioner of Insurance in order to inspect and notify compliance of structures for evidence of insurability for windstorm and hail insurance coverage through the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. The process by which a Texas Licensed Engineer may become appointed as a qualified windstorm inspector is a follows:

Testing FacilitiesTesting facilities that submit information to the TDI must be recognized by the Texas Department of Insurance, by the model code organizations, American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), National Wood Window and Door Association (NWWDA), or Dade County. The list of testing facilities is not intended to be complete nor is it an endorsement to the testing facilities listed.
