October 24, 2009Sea Center TexasEntry Level Fly Fishing Course — Basic elements of the program will include fly tying, fly casting, aquatic ecology, regulations/ethics, saltwater fishing tactics, and actual fishing practice. This free workshop, sponsored by the Sea Center Fly Fishers, is open to anyone (ages 9 or above) interested in fly fishing. Wear comfortable clothing for outdoor activities and bring a lunch. November 21, 2009The Woodlands, TexasIntermediate Fly Fishing Course — Designed as an intermediate field corollary to the basic fly-fishing class, this clinic will equip adults and children (over the age of 11) with a more detailed understanding of fly fishing methods and aquatic habitat; to include casting and line manipulation, reading water and current, fly selection and presentation, etc. Participants should be prepared appropriately for hiking and fishing related conditions. This Texas Parks and Wildlife Department program, sponsored by the Montgomery County Flyrodders, is offered through the Woodlands Parks & Recreation Department. Initially held at The Woodlands Recreation Center, 5310 Research Forest Dr. 9 a.m.-2 p.m.; fee $5 per person; preregistration required.
