The Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building, located in Austin, is the headquarters of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. Other agency facilities include the State Records Center and the Sam Houston Regional Library & Research Center in Liberty, Texas.

The mission of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission is to preserve the record of government for public scrutiny, to secure and make accessible historically significant records and other valuable resources, to meet the reading needs of Texans with disabilities, to build and sustain statewide partnerships to improve library programs and services, and to enhance the capacity for achievement of individuals and institutions with whom we work. TSLAC celebrates American Archives Month in October
The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) is joining with the Society of American Archivists (SAA) in celebrating October as American Archives Month. This year's poster theme for Texas is "Frontiers - A Statewide Celebration of the Historical Record." The Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the Texas Historical Records Advisory Board sponsor Texas Archives Month. Texas State Library and Archives Commission to tout Texas literature at National Book Festival
The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) will highlight Texas literature, authors and libraries at the Ninth Annual National Book Festival, that is organized by the Library of Congress on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the National Mall in Washington DC. Texas State Library and Archives Commission to participate in program to improve library Internet connections
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will help the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and public libraries across the state improve and sustain high-speed Internet connectivity. Reference, Archives and Genealogy moves to first floor
The Texas State Archives and Reference and Information Center of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission have moved from Room 300 on the third floor, and are now operating in newly renovated first floor locations in the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building. The Texas Family Heritage Research Center (Genealogy) is operating temporarily out of the Reference and Information Center on the first floor until its second floor permanent location is operational in early 2010. Other TSLAC operations such as Human Resources and the Executive Offices have relocated to the second floor.....Read more.

Renovation causes temporary change to services
Renovation of the historic Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building is underway. The Texas State Library and Archives Commission will remain open for business during the renovation, but some services and collections have changed and will be limited during this period. We appreciate your patience during the renovation, which is expected to be complete in the spring of 2010.
