The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Purchasing Guide for Vendors is designed to assist you in better understanding our agency's purchasing needs and requirements. It will also serve as an important business tool to help you successfully market your company to our agency with an eye toward increasing your level of HUB participation with TPWD.
TPWD is largely a field organization with approximately 75% of its employees and more than 200 field offices located throughout the state's 254 counties. Our structure necessitates that we delegate a large portion of our purchasing authority to our field personnel. Approximately 85% of all the purchasing transactions made by the agency are accomplished through this delegated purchasing authority. TPWD purchases commodities and services in almost every classification identified in the Texas Building & Procurement Commission's Commodity Book and these commodities and services are purchased by hundreds of our employees throughout the state.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department deems it in the publics' interest to ensure that all businesses, regardless of size, social, economic, or ethnic status have an equal opportunity to particpate in the agency's purchasing process. To enhance the participation of Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB) in the procurement of this agency's commodities and services, including construction, it shall be the policy of this agency to use its best efforts to increase opportunities for certified HUB in the purchase of all commodities and services.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Purchasing Guide is intended to provide you with a useful business tool to assist you in identifying the products and services we purchase along with the names, locations and phone numbers of the employees making these purchases. The guide provides information on the function of each of our ten divisions and a summary of the commodities and services that are purchased by each. The goal is to put you in contact with those individuals who utilize the commodities and services you provide, thereby maximizing your marketing efforts.
