Website Survey ERRATA There were four errors in the report entitled Returning to Work: An Examination of Existing Disability Duration Guidelines and Their Application to the Texas Workers’ Compensation System, published by the Research and Oversight Council on Workers' Compensation and Med-FX, LLC. 1. On page 14 of the Appendix, the citation for the Official Disability Guideline should reference the 1997 edition, not the 2000 edition. The 1997 edition was the one used in the comparisons because that was the publication available for case management during the time frame of the data presented in the report (injury year 1997). 2. On page 34 of the report, first paragraph, “post patello-femoral syndrome” should read “patello-femoral syndrome”. 3. On page 34 of the report, first paragraph, referring to the Official Disability Guideline, the statement “Common diagnoses not included in this guideline are lumbar strain, post patellofemoral syndrome, and soft tissue injuries to the shoulder, hand and wrist, knee, and foot and ankle” is partially incorrect. The Official Disability Guideline, published by the Work Loss Data Institute, does include diagnoses for lumbar strain and injuries to the hand and wrist. 4. On page 35 of the report, first paragraph, referring to Milliman & Robertson’s Health Management Guidelines, Workers’ Compensation, the statement “The workers’ compensation guidelines are lacking durations for low back strain, neck strain, post-laminectomy syndrome, spinal stenosis, shoulder pain, hand and wrist pain, knee pain, patellofemoral syndrome, and foot and ankle pain” is partially incorrect. Milliman & Robertson’s Health Management Guidelines, Workers’ Compensation do include durations for low back strain, neck strain, and spinal stenosis. It should be noted that these disability guidelines are continually revised and expanded to include information deemed useful in current disability management. Updated versions of the guidelines may include additional features recommended by the ROC and Med-FX, such as activity modifications and expanded diagnoses.
