The core subject areas of mathematics and science have become increasingly more important in the current global economy and therefore, more relevant to the future of all students. Math and science programs implemented by the State Initiatives Department concentrate upon the development of skilled teachers who possess the latest content knowledge and instructional expertise. Additionally, the programs and professional development activities conducted help to raise the status and stature of science and math teachers to attract more educators to these subjects. Other programs enhance student and teacher access to interactive instruction and key professionals in the fields of math and science.
