CSAP's Southwest Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies at the Southwest Prevention CenterPURPOSECSAP's Southwest CAPT supports the integration of prevention research and practice in nine states: Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Practicing substance abuse prevention goes beyond substance use and abuse to look closely at the underlying causes for substance abuse and identifies ways to promote healthy behavior. MISSIONCSAP's Southwest CAPT's mission is to support the exchange of knowledge between researchers and practitioners, increasing the application of science-based prevention programs, practices, policies, and principles at regional, state and local levels. Participation in the scientific process increases understanding and expands capacity of organizations and groups to support the development of safe and healthy communities.
