The Texas Public Information Act ("the Act"), found at Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code, gives the public the right to access records of governmental agencies, and an Open Records Decision interpreting the Act has determined that TG is subject to it.

Although certain TG information is available to the public, some exceptions exist. For example, pursuant to Chapter 57 of the Texas Education Code, "student loan borrower information collected, assembled, or maintained by the corporation is confidential and not subject to disclosure under [the Act]." (Tex. Ed. Code § 57.11(d)) See the Office of the Texas Attorney General Web site at http://www.oag.state.tx.us/ for additional information regarding exceptions to the release of records under the Act.

If you have questions regarding how the Act applies to specific TG information or would like to view or obtain copies of TG records, you have several options. You may

  • mail your request to TG’s Public Information Coordinator, TG, P.O. Box 83100, Round Rock, TX 78683-3100;
  • e-mail your request to Open.Records@tgslc.org;
  • fax your request to the TG’s Public Information Coordinator at (512) 219-4815; or
