Internet ResourcesNational Council on Problem Gambling - The National Council administers several nationwide programs, including a 24-hour confidential helpline and a gambling-specific certification program for treatment professionals. It also sponsors conferences, supports research, distributes literature and works with other organizations involved in problem gambling issues. Gamblers Anonymous - A fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from a gambling problem. Gamblers Anonymous has information regarding problem gambling and a directory of group meetings. Gam-Anon - The self-help organization for the spouses, family members or close friends of compulsive gamblers. This site contains problem gambling information and literature as well as a meetings directory. National Gambling Impact Study Commission Final Report – 1999 report on the impact of gambling in the Pathological Gambling: A Critical Review – 1999 report commissioned by the National Research Council and published by the National Academies Press. National Center for Responsible Gaming – This organization funds research to identify risk factors for gambling disorders and to determine methods for treating and preventing the disorder.
