CHILD: Congregations Helping in Love and Dedication

Congregations Helping in Love and Dedication (CHILD) is a unique collaboration between Texas' faith-based communities and Child Protective Services to find loving homes for children who have come into the state's care due to abuse and neglect. The goal of CHILD is to recruit and license foster and adoptive families from congregations across the state. Additionally, each congregation will have the opportunity to develop supportive services for their foster families. These services could include:

  • respite care,
  • reduced tuition for day care,
  • tutoring and after-school programs,
  • transportation,
  • celebrations for special occasions, and
  • enrichment activities.

Why Not Me? Awareness Campaign Launches

The Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is launching a new adoption campaign during Child Abuse Prevention Month called Why Not Me?

Photo listings are updated daily. Families with approved home studies can inquire through the child's interest form on their photo/profile page. Go to "View Waiting Children".

Note: Children come into the care of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) due to abuse or neglect. Therefore, families who adopt children through the agency should have an understanding or be willing to learn the dynamics of neglect, physical or sexual abuse.
