Under
an agreement with Texas Education Agency (TEA), Texas
LEARNS,
housed in the Harris County Department of Education,
provides nondiscretionary grant management functions,
program assistance and other statewide support services
to Texas Adult Education and Family Literacy Providers.
The TEA Division of Discretionary Grants continues to
be responsible for all discretionary, policy, and monitoring
functions. Our joint mission is to ensure that all adults
who live in Texas have the skills necessary to function
effectively in their personal and family lives, in the
workplace, and in the community.
Professional
Development is provided to the Adult Education Community
through The
Project GREAT Adult Education and Family Literacy Regional
Centers of Excellence.
The Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy and Learning provides links to the Texas Adult Education Standards and Benchmarks Implementation Guide, Version 1.0, the Texas Adult Education Content Standards and Benchmarks Lesson Plan Bank, as well as information on how the Content Standards were developed. Any revisions to the Guide, as well as new lesson plans can be reached from this page.
