The SIMS Foundation, an organization connecting Austin's musicians with mental health and addiction recovery services since 1995, will again be the beneficiary of the"Gram Parsons Birthday Hoot" - an annual musical homage to Parsons (who died at the young age of 26 under the influence of drugs and alcohol) and his undeniable influence on the artists and music of today's Americana movement. On the anniversary of his birth, and 35 years after his death, an impressive collection of Austin musicians will gather to perform their favorite Gram Parsons songs (either written, recorded by, or associated with Parsons). Join the league of Parsons fans to celebrate his legacy of cosmic American music. The concert will be hosted by Patterson Barrett and will feature Rosie Flores, Tom Gillam, Dustin Welch, Patricia Vonne, Michael Fracasso, Earl Poole Ball, Dallas Wayne, Freddie"Steady" Krc, members of Greezy Wheels, Albert & Gage, Chris Gates, Lisa Hayes, Randy Weeks, Betty Soo, Julieann Banks, Mandy Mercier, Tommy Spurlock, Cam King (of the Explosives), Danny Levin, Jon Hahn, Rob Bollinger, and Mike Rieman.

The purpose of Godstock is to teach young teens and young adults to employ their energy into something positive. To give them an event that will be run by them and for others to look forward in joining whereby, taking them out of dangerous conditions and for them to want to participate in a rewarding experience. Also, to gather the young musical talents and give them the opportunities to express their skills and to have others look forward in sharpening theirs for future events. Featuring: New and exciting production line with over 20 bands, dance teams, drama teams, food booth and two semi tucks loaded with equipment with big screens easier on stage view of performances. Presenting Live: White Chocolate, Crucified, Paradigm 7, Judge Not, GLO, Judge Not along with theatrical drama presentation by Second Chance Drama Team, Hip Hop dance teams, Burbank HS Drumline Kicks this off on Friday and a dynamic speaker from Dallas Blake Porter with power packed words of encouragement. This year we are excited to have two Christian comics as Masters of Ceremony none other than Anthony Andrews out of Dallas and our very own Cleto Rodriguez. Although Godstock has grown to become an annual event, it's original concept has not been lost. The uniqueness of this event is to have a place to come together without the boundaries of church walls, to be able to come join in or not whatever is felt to do. But to connect in a non-treating environment that will benefit and not back anyone up in a corner. (This is our 8th year)

Fun Fun Fun Fest made its 1st appearance on a cold friday evening in 2006. What started out as a show for a few touring acts, became a festival that fans and bands alike thought needed to be annual. So here we go again! The theory behind Fun Fun Fun was to make a festival full of nothing but cool music. A fest WE in the scene would want to go to, without all the filler. A collection of all the different style of progressive and underground music: indie rock, punk, hip hop, dj, etc. Spread across a park on multiple stages that would allow fans to go from one area to another to see and appreciate different styles of music and have a good time.

The 12th annual Big Band Bash will be held at Pioneer Pavilion Hall at Lady Bird Johnson Park on Saturday, November 7th, Hwy. 16 South, Fredericksburg. Tickets are $75. We are urging people to get their tickets early - we have sold out the last 4 of 5 years. Proceeds benefit youth in Fredericksburg by offering music and theater workshops and camps. This year we are also giving a scholarships to 3 FHS graduating seniors that are continuing their education in music.

Raindrop Turkish House is holding its third annual Turkic Cultures and Children’s Festival on November 7th and 8th at Herman Square, in front of Houston’s City Hall. We will be celebrating the rich heritage of many Turkic and sister nations including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Raindrop Turkish House promises an authentic Turkish weekend that is sure to please the eyes, ears and tongues of participants young and old. Enjoy live performances of Turkic folk dances, authentic Turkic and Sufi music, Turkish rock music and the Ottoman Military Band. Also on display will be traditional Ottoman and Rumi Tents, as well as artistic demonstrations of water marbling, calligraphy, illuminations and ceramic art. The experience of shopping for Turkic treasures such as handmade ceramics and pottery, oriental rugs, throws, bags, decorative pillows, traditional jewelry handicrafts is not to be missed.

The Jazz at St. James' event consists of a Friday & Saturday evening performance featuring a different local jazz act each evening and a nationally recognized act performing both nights. There is also a Jazz Informance where the main artists discusses music with local jazz musicians and students and usually a"jam" session occurs at the end. Sunday there are four Jazz Masses each having different jazz groups, with the main artist playing at the 10:15 AM service. Artists TBD.

Once again, music will be the catalyst, making good things happen at the 6th Annual Rice Festival, a non-profit event, with all proceeds applied towards the funding of the Rice Harrington Art Scholarship, created to help graduating high school artists pursue fine art degrees in college. Each second Saturday in November, We gather to celebrate Rice's birthday and the Spirit he left us. Having taught art at San Marcos High School for over 20 years, Rice's talent and influence will not be forgotten. Rain or shine, we enjoy ourselves at historic Fischer Hall, the funky old dance hall just off Hwy. 32 which comfortably embraces the very best Bluegrass/Folk/Acoustic musicians, in a small intimate setting....just the way Rice liked it.

Salado Scottish Games and Competitions takes place at Number One Main Street. The Museum in Salado and includes dance competitions, bagpipe playing, a traditional Scotch Ceilidh ("Kay-lee"), and Kirkin' O' the Tartans ceremony. Panels of Scot experts will judge contests in Highland dancing, piping, drumming and pipe bands. In addition, visitors will want to take in the athletic events, a tattoo, which is an exchange of melodies between pipe bands, other Scottish music and performances by some of the day's competitors in a sunset setting. Special events include a (Kay-lee) Ceilidh, tattoos, and a genealogy seminar. Specialists in Celtic music and song will entertain. There are special tickets for the Finger Tip Supper on Friday. All tickets may be purchased and paid for in advance and picked up on the day of the event at the door to the Hall of the Clans. All inquiries for schedules should be mailed to the museum along with a self-addressed stamped envelope.

This free public event salutes the savory spice of the chile pepper and other hot and fiery foods. More than 15,000 visitors are expected over the two-day event to eat their way through food vendor tastings, cooking classes and contests. All proceeds benefit the programs and services offered to the Dallas Farmers Market by the Farmers Market Friends, a support organization, The Texas Chefs Association and the El Centro College Culinary department.

The Heritage Syrup Festival is a folklife festival in the two historical districts of Henderson. Syrup making demonstration is focus,but 35 artist will demonstrate on Depot grounds,the saw mill will cut wood, print shop, broom and blacksmith shops operate. Roots music is performed at the Depot, while a Bluegrass concert is on the Square The Depot is the educational part of the event and the Downtown is filled with booths for shopping, children's activities,antique car show and both locations have great regional food.

For more than a decade, the Nine Flags Festival has paid homage to the rich and spirited history of the oldest town in Texas. That history includes three attempts to establish a Republic of Texas. Thus, nine flags have flown over Nacogdoches as opposed to the six that have represented Texas. They are French, Spanish, Magee-Gutierrez, Dr. James Long, Mexican, Fredonia Rebellion, Lone Star, Confederate Stars & Bars and United States of America. Since its inception in 1997, the Nine Flags Festival has become one of the premier holiday celebrations in the state and has been recognized by the Texas Legislature for its community education and historic restoration efforts. The 12th annual Nine Flags Festival held in 2008 paid special tribute to the Mexican flag with special events planned to recognize the town's Mexican influence. Holiday Harmony is a wholesome, Branson-style, family show presented by the Sweet Adelines Chapter, the Red River Valley Chorus of Sherman, Texas. This will be an evening of musical merriment which will include special guest performers. Another group of guest singers will be the Holiday Stars. The Stars are women from the Texoma area who have been rehearsing with the chorus for six weeks, learning the uniquely American musical art form - barbershop harmony. These special ladies will be several songs onstage with the RRVC to round out the musical extravanganza. Holiday Harmony is definitely the holiday show to see in the Texoma area this season. The performance is open to the public with donations greatly appreciated.

Join us in San Antonio for the 15th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza. The Extravaganza is a seven day spectacular and elaborate production of mariachi-related events that include an evening with the world renowned Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán in concert, mariachi group and vocal competitions, a mariachi mass at the historic San Jose Mission, mariachi workshops, a mariachi art exhibit featuring photos and original paintings with mariachi based themes, and a serenade at San Antonio's Rivercenter Mall Lagoon.
