The Texas Cowboy Reunion is a celebration and gathering of cowboys and old-timers from all over Texas and the Southwest. The rodeo is billed as the world's largest amateur rodeo and the dance is one of the largest outdoor dances of its kind in this area. Broadway Festivals, Inc. is proud to present the 19th annual 4th On Broadway Celebration. This free, outdoor family event celebrates unique musical cultures, artistic dynamism and diversity of the South Plains. Much to the delight of the festival organizers, the event attracts in excess of 200,000 people from Lubbock, Eastern New Mexico and other parts of Texas. Since it’s birth 19 years ago, this event has come to be known as, “the largest free festival in Texas,” and has been named, “Best Promotional Event,” by the Texas Downtown association. This popular community-wide celebration features exciting events for children and adults of all ages including an Independence Day Parade, street fair and an evening concert ending with a fantastic firework display. The focus is musical outreach. Don Caldwell Productions will carefully select more than 500 local artists to showcase their musical talent on 11 different stages throughout downtown Lubbock. Each stage will have performances from several different musical genres including a fiesta stage, eclectic stage, country stage and gospel stage. The Fourth on Broadway musical presentations are an outstanding opportunity to introduce children and families to a variety of musical venues.

Houston's Texas-sized Fourth of July celebration, Freedom Over Texas with Fireworks Presented by Shell, will feature country music star Clay Walker; the largest land-based fireworks show in the nation; a statewide sand volleyball championship; activities galore for kids and families; plenty of live music and more. The Festival on Nolan Creek features arts and crafts, food, carnival and local musical entertainment. Event hours are 12- 6 p.m. on July 4. Fiddler's contest will be held at 1 p.m. in Yettie Polk Park. The Festival on Nolan Creek has more to offer than vendors. The Texas Old Time Fiddler's contest is returning to Yettie Polk Park for the eighth year. The Bell County Expo Center will be filled with the sounds of cheers and squeals from the Crabtree Amusements Carnival. The festival is held at Yettie Polk Park. Yettie Polk Park is large, shady and located on Nolan Creek.Yettie Polk Park is at the intersection of Central Avenue and Highway 317 (Main Street). Traditional 4th of July Celebration!!! Wednesday, July 4, 2007 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Celebrate a “frontier” Fourth of July on the Back 40 at UTSA’s Institute of Texan Cultures! Mingle with the museum’s Texas Characters as they share amazing stories of life on the frontier in the 1800s! Dive into frontier activities, like making a rag doll that you can keep. You can even enlist in the cavalry and play in a real fort headquarters! There will be lots of frontier games, too, like tug-of-war and sack races! Learn how to walk on stilts, and take a swing at a piñata! Our special guests from Boy Scout Troop #36 will lead flag retirement ceremonies throughout the day. Your family can bring a picnic lunch and eat underneath one of the shady trees while you listen to the tunes of a brass band! A good time will be had by all! Members are FREE, adults (age 13 and up) $7, children (age 3–12) $4, seniors (age 65 and up) $4, military (with ID) $4.

The parade is an annual event and consists of generally 150 entries. The number of spectators over the years has ranged from of 5,000 to 70,000. Parade entries include marching bands to exotic automobiles, military color guards to clowns, and dignitaries to unique presentations. Of course, the parade has a distinguished assortment of floats. Some floats are professionally built, but many are the proud results of individual ingenuity by local organizations and businesses. There is even an Award Ceremony after the parade at Knapp Heritage Park to recognize excellence within each of several categories. We hope that you will join us for the 43rd annual parade on Friday, July 4th at 9:00 a.m., for the 2008 edition of USA's Independence Day Parade in downtown Arlington.

Fine Arts Chamber Players presents the 29th Annual Basically Beethoven Festival, a series of free classical chamber music concerts beginning Sunday, July 5. The Mimir Chamber Music Festival, named for the Norse god of wisdom, features outstanding artists from the world's leading orchestras and music schools who share a love for chamber music. Mimir is the premiere Festival in the South Central United States dedicated exclusively to the study and performance of chamber music. Artists are selected not only for their superb performing skills, but also for their ability to teach. Throughout the two-week Festival, guest artists hold master classes for aspiring pre-professional musicians, selected for participation through a rigorous audition process. In the evenings, guest artists present a series of five exciting and distinctly different musical performances. The 2009 season marks the 12th Year of the Mimir Chamber Music Festival. Founded in 1997, the Festival is hosted by the TCU School of Music on the university's beautiful campus in Fort Worth, Texas. Concerts take place at the Walsh Center for Performing Arts in the PepsiCo Recital Hall, an intimate setting, perfect for enjoying the art of chamber music. This year's exceptional guest artists include members of the Chicago Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra, Winners of the Van Cliburn and Leeds International Piano Competitions, outstanding TCU faculty and other internationally acclaimed musicians.

The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival is held annually in mid-July to commemorate the life and music of Woody Guthrie in Guthrie's hometown of Okemah, Oklahoma located 90 miles east of Oklahoma City. Daytime main performances are held indoors at the Brick Street Cafe and at the Crystal Theater. Evening main stage performances are held outdoors at the Pastures of Plenty. Artists confirmed for 2009 include: Jimmy LaFave, Sam Baker, Jon Vezner, Audrey Auld, Ronny Elliott, Don Conoscenti, Mark Erelli, Joel Rafael, John Flynn, Nan cy Apple, and Tony Lee Thomas. Guthrie's sister, Mary Jo Guthrie Edgmon, is the festival's perennial guest of honor. The festival also includes childrens' activities, poetry readings, and a variety of other things to do and see. Except for a $10 parking fee at the Pastures of Plenty, the festival is FREE. The event is made possible in part from a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council.

The Texas Festivals and Events Association (TFEA) is calling for talent entries to be considered for an entertainment showcase that will be held at the TFEA Annual Conference and Trade Show. TFEA, an official affiliate of the International Festivals and Events Association, is a non-profit trade association for festival and event professionals and the companies that provide goods and services to festivals and events. Entertainers who are selected to perform will have the opportunity to showcase their talent to approximately 250 attendees, representing more than 75 events from across the state. TFEA seeks all types of entertainment that may appeal to festival consumers including bands and solo performers of all musical genres, variety acts, strolling acts, children’s performers, etc. Completed applications and support materials must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 1. There is no cost to submit acts for consideration. However, if an act is chosen, membership into the association (cost is $160) and purchase of a trade show booth at the conference is required. The cost of the trade show booth is $275, which includes conference registration (with four meals) for one person and booth furnishings. TFEA will provide sound and lights as outlined in the attached rules. Additional requirements are at the expense of the act. TFEA does not pay fees or expenses for any showcase act.

These legendary performers are important figures in Bluegrass music history and will be featured in a special legends performance during the week.
