Schedule for Release of Tests

Texas Education Code §39.023(e) requires the Texas Education Agency to release only the primary form of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) and the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills–Modified (TAKS–M) for every grade and subject tested every three years. The three-year release schedule was enacted by the 80^th Texas Legislature in 2007 and modified by the 81^st Texas Legislature in 2009. The new release schedule will be implemented in 2009 and will affect assessments given in the 2008–2009 school year. Student Success Initiative (SSI) and exit level retests will not be released.

• Release for TAKS

New Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) reading tests for grades 2–12 were implemented in the 2007–2008 school year. The first release of these tests is planned for summer 2010.

Released Tests

The released tests are available in the following formats:

• Hard Copy
  Hard copies of the released tests, including braille versions, may be ordered online through Pearson or by calling 866-447-3577.
  

• Printable Versions
  The links below include the released tests for each grade, the answer keys, and scoring guides if applicable.
  
• TAKS™ - The released TAKS™ tests are available for the years 2003–2006 and 2009.
• TAKS–M - The released TAKS–M tests are available for 2009.
  
  
• Interactive Online Versions
  Interactive online versions of the TAKS™ and the TAKS–M released tests.
  
  
• Archived Tests
  Released tests from former testing programs are still available.
