"A rare musical asset for Austin" (Austin American-Statesman) since 1991, A. Mozart Fest presents critically acclaimed solo, chamber music and chamber orchestra concerts centered on music of Mozart and later music he inspired. Our mission is to bring the music of Mozart and of later composers he inspired to as many people as possible, through highest-quality performances. Our concerts also include introductory commentary to heighten our audience's enjoyment of this music. We achieve our goals through a yearly season of high-quality public concerts, wherein each work is introduced by commentary and musical examples to establish a common emotional ground between our performers and our audience.

The Abilene Philharmonic is a 75-member symphony orchestra. Four student concerts, four classical concerts and three pops concerts are presented each season. Amarillo Opera is the only opera company in the Texas Panhandle. AO annually produces two fully staged, costumed, orchestrally accompanied productions; the "Lift Every Voice" spirituals concert and a comprehensive season of rural, community, and educational outreach activities. Auditions are held by appointment only in Amarillo, Houston, and Dallas in April and May of each year. Support is given by individuals, BRAVO! membership, special events, major gifts, corporations, foundations, Amarillo College, Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, and Texas Commission on the Arts.

The Amarillo Symphony (ASO) Subscription Series has seven subscription concerts each year. ASO performances also include an annual pops concerts, master classes, Informances, Lunch and Listenings, Kinderkonzerts, Concerts for Young People, Symphony Family Concerts, and Music Makes the Difference! ensembles. Auditions for the Amarillo Symphony are held in late August before of each season. The Amarillo Symphony is an 85-member ensemble.

The Amarillo Youth Choirs features the Amarillo Boy Concert Choir (50 members), the Amarillo Boy Preparatory Choir (26), the Amarillo Girl Concert Choir (60) and the Amarillo Preparatory Girl Choir (55), and provides youth in the Texas Panhandle the opportunity to study and perform choral literature. Membership in the Amarillo Boy Choir is reserved for boys in the 3rd grade and above with unchanged voices. Membership in the Amarillo Girl Choir is for girls 3rd-8th grades. Auditions are held in January, May, and August of each year.

The Arlington Community Band performs year-round representing the communities in and around Arlington, Texas. Members are beyond high school age and represent all walks of life. There is no audition to.join the band, and members share a common interest in performing quality band music. The ACB is an active participant in many Arlington events including the Fourth of July Parade and the annual Christmas Tree Lighting activities. Bob Copeland is our Music Director and Conductor. All our concerts are free and open to the public. The band's performances are supported in part by the City of Arlington, Texas, and the Texas Commission on the Arts. Established in 1981.

Founded in 1989, the Arts District Chorale is a premier, Dallas-based vocal ensemble of 40 voices. We share the joy and beauty of choral music with the community by promoting choral excellence through artistic performance in a variety of downtown venues - particularly those within the Dallas Arts District. The Arts District Chorale is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization. The Austin Chamber Ensemble presents a concert series and has performed for audiences throughout the Southwest, as well as touring three times in Europe as part of an exchange Chamber Music Program. Instrumentation consists of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn, frequently augmented by harp, piano, voice, and strings. The ensemble is committed to presenting varied repertoire of music from all periods and has commissioned works from several composers. Trio Contraste consists of violin, clarinet and piano which tours annually in the U.S. and Europe. Sponsored by the City of Austin under the auspices of the Austin Commission on the Arts.

Austin Children's choir was created as a nonprofit organization in 1986, to provide Austin area boys and girls ages 6 to 18with a choral music experience of the highest caliber. The choir also takes part in performances with other community based arts groups.

The 45-man Chord Ranger Chorus, Greater Austin's premier men's a cappella vocal ensemble, performs at various venues in Central Texas throughout the year. The Chord Rangers are members of the Austin Chapter of the International Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA), a charitable and educational singing fraternity dedicated to performing unaccompanied four-part harmony - a uniquely American musical genre. Local events include delivery of "Singing Valentines" by chapter quartets in February, the annual chapter show scheduled for August28, 2004, Community songfests at the State Capitol on Memorial Day - May 31, 2003, and Christmas Carolfest - December 4, 2004. The Chorus is sponsored through charitable giving by many businesses and individuals as well as through ticket sales, corporate events, private parties and fund raisers. ACR's Youth Outreach Program conducts barbershop clinics for area high schools and sponsors tuition assistance programs for youth music camps. Membership is open to any male singer who has an interest in performing a cappella and barbershop style music. Chapter meetings and chorus rehearsals are held weekly throughout the year.

Austin Civic Chorus is a symphonic chorus of 100 plus singers that performs choral masterworks throughout the fall and spring concert seasons. In addition to the full subscription of concerts during the year, Austin Civic Chorus is often seen performing with the Austin Symphony Orchestra and Georgetown Symphony Society. In 2003, the Austin Civic Chorus won an Austin Critic's Table Choice Award for "Best Choral Performance." In the fall of 2006, the men of the Austin Civic Chorus were part of the Austin Symphony Orchestra performances of Shostakovich Symphony #13 which won the Austin Critic's Table Choice Award for Best Symphony Performance. Austin Civic Chorus is managed by the non-profit umbrella organization Chorus Austin.

The Austin Civic Orchestra (ACO) was founded in 1977 and includes approximately 65 members. The ACO provides affordable access to classical music to all members of Austin and surrounding communities. We perform 6-7 concerts each season including the annual Pearl Amster Concerto Competition & Festival (a contest for young musicians under 18) and our popular Zilker Park "Pops" concerts (free outdoor concerts held each summer). The orchestra rehearses every Tuesday night (currently at Lanier High School) and auditions are held there. The Austin Girls' Choir is a performance organization for talented singers ages 8-18. Income from performances funds scholarships, tours and educational opportunities for the girls. Choristers sing a wide variety of styles (classical to contemporary) in three- and four-part harmony, in several languages. The Choir contains two performance groups: the Junior Choir (25-30 girls ages 8-13) and the Senior Ensemble (15 girls ages 12-18). The Choir tours throughout the country, and sings frequently in Austin. The Choir made its New York debut in 1996, singing at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and at Carnegie Hall. They appeared on CNN and live on the BBC Radio. The choir toured in Germany and Prague in June 2000. Auditions are held in January, May, and September.

The Austin Handbell Ensemble was founded in September 1995 by Austin area directors and ringers who were interested in establishing a community handbell choir. The AHE is a non-profit corporation dedicated to excellence in ringing and to promoting musical education at all levels. The fifteen member choir is under the direction of Bob Avant and Linda Rutherford. In addition to performing solo concerts, the AHE enjoys combining forces with other area musical groups. The ensemble is also available for seasonal concerts, weddings, banquets and other occasions.

The Austin Singers were incorporated in Fall, 1997 and obtained nonprofit status in Summer 1998. The choir of approximately 50 auditioned singers practices on Monday nights in space provided without charge at First Baptist Church of Austin, located in the heart of Austin. The ensemble is currently in its sixth season under the able artistic leadership of Lanier Bayliss and is continuing its mission of: Performing a wide spectrum choral works from different cultures and countries, recognizing and reflecting the diversity of the Austin community; Providing a forum to develop and showcase local talent, including rising and established vocalists and instrumentalists; Providing an active community outreach program to educate and to enrich quality of life through exposure to creative choral programming. Austin Symphonic Band is a community group of about 100 members who perform repertoire for concert band for the enjoyment of band members and appreciative audiences. The Sudler-award winning Austin Symphonic Band performs popular and challenging concert band literature throughout Central Texas in front of over 10,000 fans per season. Membership in the band, which may be and is hired by cities and organizations in the area, is open to adult musicians without audition.

The Austin Symphony Orchestra consists of 90 musicians. The Orchestra's subscription series, a Friday/Saturday pair featuring guest artists, runs monthly September through April. The Symphony also presents a series of pops concerts: the Promenade Pops, Holiday Pops, as well as an outdoor Summer Music Festival at Symphony Square. In addition, the Austin Symphony has an extensive program for youth, including Young People's Concerts, Halloween Concerts and a weekly Children's Day Art Park with an "Instrument Petting Zoo" in the summer. Auditions are held in September. This season's sponsor is Norwest Bank.

Austin Vocal Arts Ensemble is a chamber group of about 40 singers that performs choral works of all styles and periods that are fitting of chamber ensembles. The group performs mainly unaccompanied, but also occasionally sings with piano, organ, or small chamber orchestras. Austin Vocal Arts Ensemble was originally founded in 1985 by UT music students as the Austin Handel/Haydn Society. AVAE features some of the finest choral musicians and music professionals in the Central Texas area, and has been seen performing with the San Antonio Symphony, at Round Top, and in July 2005 performed at the Texas Choral Director Association Convention in San Antonio. Austin Vocal Arts Ensemble is managed by the non-profit umbrella organization Chorus Austin.

The Austin Youth Orchestra is a curriculum enrichment project of the Austin Independent School District, consisting of four orchestras designed to address and expand the musical and education development of students in the Central Texas area. Membership in the orchestras is open to any student musician in kindergarten through high school, public or private. The goal of the orchestras is to provide the best possible musical training and experiences for students living and learning their skills in the central Texas area. Any student, kindergarten through high school, public, private, or home school, who lives in the Central Texas area is encouraged to join the appropriate Youth Orchestra. Concertante Youth Orchestra:(Spring Semester Orchestra) a String Orchestra (violin, viola, cello, bass, harp) which is designed for beginning public school students or Suzuki students at Book I level with limited reading experience. Students in Grades K-6 are eligible for this orchestra. Intermezzo Youth Orchestra: a String Orchestra (violin, viola, cello, bass, harp) which is designed for students with Concertante experience or Suzuki students at Book II level. Students in Grades K-7 are eligible for this orchestra. Sinfonietta Youth Orchestra: a String Orchestra (violin, viola, cello, bass, harp) designed for advanced string players in Grades K-7. This orchestra meets both semesters of the school year and also has a summer session. Philharmonic Youth Orchestra: a String orchestra in the Fall and a Full Orchestra (strings, winds and percussion) in the Spring, designed for top level instrumentals in Grades 6-9. Symphony Youth Orchestra: a String orchestra in the Fall and a Full Orchestra in the Spring, designed for exceptional high school musicians.

The Bach Choir and Orchestra, part of the Bach Society, was organized for the purpose of presenting the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and other music of the Lutheran tradition to the greater Houston community according to principals of historical authenticity. The Bach Choir and Orchestra are the resident performing groups of the Bach Society. The Choir is composed of trained male and female singers selected by audition, and the Orchestra of professional instrumentalists is the regular counterpart of the vocal ensemble.

The Big Spring Symphony Orchestra is a professional orchestra comprised of 60 musicians from througout Western Texas. The ensemble performs a four concert subscription series as well as presenting two educational outreach programs annually. The annual July 3rd patriotic concert and fireworks show, "Pops in the Park" boasts the highest attendance in Western Texas (approximately 15,000 attendees).

The German Band Association of Texas is primarily an association of 85 musicians throughout Texas who enjoy playing German music. The band plays under the name Blasmusik Texas (The Texas All-State German Band). We meet usually two or three times a year and play together for our own enjoyment, and for fans of German music. We have played for the past six years at the Wurstfest in New Braunfels and expect to play again this year on November 5th. In 1994, we traveled to Rehlingen, Germany to play in the international music festival. The band made another playing trip to Germany and France in 1999. Dues are $10 for a single membership; $15 for families; and we send a newsletter, Texanische Blasmusiknoten, to our members.

The Chamber Soloists of Austin performances include four concerts in Austin venues, with funding support from the Austin Arts Commission. CSA tours Texas under the auspices of the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) Touring Program. The group was one of only two chamber groups to participate in the Texas Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in June 1991. In 1992, CSA toured South America for three and a half weeks as Artistic Ambassadors (sponsored by the United States Information Agency). The group with guest artists has presented sold-out performances of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos, Mozart concertos and Vivaldi's The Four Seasons at Bates Recital Hall, The University of Texas campus.

Chisolm Trail Chorus, a member of the Sweet Adelines, International, is a 50-member ladies chorus that sings in unaccompanied four part harmony, arranged in barber shop style. The barbershop harmony of today is a highly stylized art form requiring the same high degree of singing skill as other types of choral music. Auditions are held intermittently throughout the year. Three quartets are available for smaller shows. Sweet Adelines, International just celebrated their 60th anniversary. The Chisolm Trail Chorus has a show every fall in Temple and travels central Texas throughout the year.

Chorus Austin Consort is a smaller version of the Austin Vocal Arts Ensemble. Made up of AVAE members, the Consort can be hired for a variety of community and private events. Emphasizing both quality and flexibility, Consort's highly trained vocalists perform a wide variety of a capella music including Classical, Patriotic, Contemporary and Holiday selections. Consort's small size and a capella repertoire make it the perfect choice for both intimate venues and large functions. Individuals can also be selected to perform solo repertoire. Combining quality, professionalism, and flexibility, the Chorus Austin Consort provides a superb musical experience for any special event. Consort is managed by the non-profit umbrella organization Chorus Austin, and can be hired by contacting the office.

Founded in 2003, The Cross Timbers Youth Orchestra is a non-profit organization for committed young musicians in the North Texas area. The Denton Bach Chorus, part of the Denton Bach Society, was organized in 1976. We have 40 singers, and auditions are held in the spring and fall. Performances held four times a year. Membership includes 300 persons and businesses. We exist to perform choral and instrumental music from the Baroque period, with an emphasis on the music of J.S. Bach. We have performed over the years 60 cantatas and all of Bach's major choral works. The major performances have been Bach's "Mass in B Minor" and Mendelssons "Elijah." We have also performed other works, modern works including Dave Brubeck's "La Fiesta de la Posada" and Benjamin Britain's "Noah's Flood." We are housed in Denton's newly refurbished Campus Theatre. We have had performances throughout the city of El Paso for civic and church organizations as well as performances in the El Paso Public Schools. We have performed for Renaissance fairs and dinners as well as in the Chamizal Theater, The Fox Fine Arts Center at the University of Texas in El Paso and the El Paso Museum of Art. We have given performances in Las Cruces N.M. and Lubbock, TX.

Under the direction of Paul Bonneau, the orchestra is composed of local-area musicians who volunteer their time and considerable talents for the benefit of cultural awareness in the community and for their own enjoyment of playing in an ensemble. Fort Worth Opera was founded in 1946 and is the oldest, continually performing opera company in Texas and one of the 14 oldest opera companies in the United States. In recent years, under the leadership of Darren Keith Woods, the company has been gaining attention from critics and audiences alike for its artistic quality and willingness to take risks. The company reports that sales for the 2005/06 Season have exceeded expectations for both season and single tickets, including its recent production of Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites. Darren Keith Woods, who began his operatic career in 1982 as a character tenor, joined Fort Worth Opera as General Director in 2001. After 60 years of producing operas singularly over a fall and winter season, Fort Worth Opera has announced a major change in its presentation format: it will condense its entire schedule to an annual festival - with all of its operas and concerts being presented over a four week period (see attached schedule). The inaugural Fort Worth Opera Festival is scheduled to commence in May 2007. The 2007 Festival will be in lieu of a fall/winter schedule for 2006/2007.

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (FWSO) performs more than 220 orchestral concerts per year. The FWSO is the most active performing arts organization based at Fort Worth's spectacular Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall, and is one of the most successful symphony orchestras of its size in the United States. Its 2004-05 budget is $10 million. Joan Quarm, the artistic director, founded the Gilbert and Sullivan Company of El Paso in 1969. It had its beginnings in the Upstairs Theater Downtown and moved to the Chamizal National Memorial Theater in the mid-1980s. The company was established to perform the operettas of W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan and to produce other allied endeavors. This year the company is proud to be celebrating its 36th Anniversary Season.

The Living Opera is a nonprofit corporation organized to make opera accessible, affordable and appealing to a broader spectrum of the community by offering high-quality performances, providing education and outreach programs and promoting the development of emerging artists and artisans. TLO produces and presents two to three productions each year. The first two are standard operas, while the third is usually an operetta, or an opera in English. The Mid-Texas Symphony Orchestra includes 50-60 ensemble members with more than 400 musicians in its data base. MTS has a 100 member chorus and provides Young Artists Scholarships in strings, piano, voice, winds and brass. The symphony performs 6 concerts, altenrating between the cities of Seguin and New Braunfels. A free children's concert series is performed each season for school districts within these areas provided by a grant from the Cecilia Young Willard Helping Fund.

The Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale presents a biennial National Young Artist Competition. The orchestra is composed of approximately 80 musicians and the chorale has approximately 60 singers. Each year, more than 50 concerts of classical and popular music are performed in Midland and Odessa.

Training in theory and basic rhythm is taught by university instructors and musicians from area orchestras. Auditions will begin in January every year. Concert highlights include 1999 performance in Kennedy Center and October 2000 performance at Carnegie Hall.

"We're the Men from Texas, North Texas..." is the beginning of the first song in our concerts. The North Texas Men's Chorus consists of men from high school age to the senior citizen, representing the greater Wichita Falls communities of Burkburnett, Electra, Henrietta, Iowa Park, and Sheppard Air Force Base. Our chorus was established with seven enthusiasts and has grown to a membership of over forty. We try to limit our concerts to two per month, with weekly rehersals. We perform our concerts for church groups, civic organizations, school reunions, and retiree organizations. To date we have performed in Amarillo, Archer City, Burkburnett, Childress, Dallas, Electra, Frederick OK, Granbury, Henrietta, Iowa Park, Quanah, and Wichita Falls. The chorus has also performed as a lead in to the musical "Texas", in the amphitheater at Palo Doro Canyon Park. We have also appeared twice at the Granbury Opera house in Granbury and the Texas Gold Show in Wichita Falls.

The Plainview Symphony Orchestra features up to 60 area musicians and a guest conductor. They perform four times each season in Harral Auditorium on the Wayland Baptist University campus. The afternoon Christmas concert is performed for all fourth and fifth graders as an introduction to symphony music. There is no charge to the students and the Plainview ISD provides bus transportation. The Symphony Guild, with its Debutante program, is a strong presence at the concerts and in the community. Plainview Symphony Board believes it to be the smallest city to have a symphony.

The Rich-Tone Chorus features 150 women from the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex dedicated to the performance of barbershop music. The Rich-Tones hold three Sweet Adalines International championship titles: one in 1992, 1996, and 1998. Chartered in 1968 with 16 singers, the chorus has enjoyed growth both in membership and in its musical strength. The Rich-Tones have performed in many settings, from Good Morning America to the Texas State Republican Convention. Annual shows and Christmas performances feature high-energy song and dance numbers along with heart-warming ballads. The Rich-Tones are available for performing as a full chorus and in smaller groups. Award-winning quartets have individual show packages.

San Antonio Early Music Ensemble, celebrating its 35th anniversary, was formed in an effort to recreate the sounds of medieval and renaissance music. For concerts and rehearsals, the ensemble has access to one of the largest collections of early instruments in the U.S. The ensemble has played for the Texas Music Teachers Association, the San Antonio Festival, The Round Top Festival of Early Music, the San Antonio Early Music Festival, and concerts for churches and universities in San Antonio, Laredo, Brownsville, Seguin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Corpus Christi, San Marcos, and Shreveport, Louisiana. The ensemble was in residency in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the invitation of the Desert Chorale. The ensemble has also been in residency with the Children's Chorus of San Antonio where they assisted in the preparation of music concerts from the Spanish Renaissance. The Ensemble has been presented three times on National Public Radio's "Performance Today" and voted the "Best Classical Music Ensemble" by the readers of the "San Antonio Current".

The Valley Symphony Orchestra, part of the South Texas Symphony Association, sponsored the 100 member Valley Symphony Orchestra and the 120 member Symphony Chorale. The orchestra performs four to six season subscription concerts each year at the University of Texas-Pan American Fine Arts Auditorium in Edinburg and McAllen Civic Center. The orchestra also performs annual student concerts, concerts in local civic auditoriums, outdoor parks, and in Mexico. Orchestra members are paid a per-service stipend and membership is by audition only. Auditions are usually conducted in August, but may be scheduled at other times, as the conductor desires and openings arise. All orchestral musicians are residents of the Rio Grande Valley.

The Texas Girls' Choir has been acclaimed internationally in over 50 countries, performing in Europe, the Orient, the Middle East, Canada, South America, South Seas, South Africa, and the U.S. The Texas Girls' Choir presents more than 125 performances annually and this past summer traveled to the Orient (including Thailand, China, and Hong Kong). The choir is made up of girls ages eight-14 years from the North Texas area representing more than 30 cities. The choir's headquarters where rehearsals and activities are held is in Fort Worth, Texas. The Texas Girls' Choir was founded in 1962 by Shirley Carter and was the first girls' choir incorporated in the US.

The Turtle Creek Chorale is a 225-voice male chorus with two small performing ensembles: Encore and Chamber Chorus. Concert season is year-round. Auditions are held in August and January of each year. TCC is sponsored by American Airlines, WFAA Channel 8, the Dallas Morning News and the City of Dallas.

The Tyler Youth Orchestra offers classical music training for young musicians. The more advanced students perform with TYO, while beginning musicians play with the Tyler Preparatory Orchestra. Both groups rehearse weekly in addition to frequent sectionals with professional musicians. The orchestras provide three formal concerts each year as well as performances at community functions throughout the year.

The Valley Symphony Orchestra, part of the South Texas Symphony Association, sponsored the 100 member Valley Symphony Orchestra and the 120 member Symphony Chorale. The orchestra performs four to six season subscription concerts each year at the University of Texas-Pan American Fine Arts Auditorium in Edinburg and McAllen Civic Center. The orchestra also performs annual student concerts, concerts in local civic auditoriums, outdoor parks, and in Mexico. Orchestra members are paid a per-service stipend and membership is by audition only. Auditions are usually conducted in August, but may be scheduled at other times, as the conductor desires and openings arise. All orchestral musicians are residents of the Rio Grande Valley.

For more than three decades, Victoria Symphony Orchestra has provided world-class performances. Auditions are held throughout the year.

The Waco Symphony Orchestra presents five subscription concerts each year, as well as The Nutcracker, and an annual Holiday concert. Eighty musicians perform in the orchestra; auditions held each fall. A chamber music series is offered consisting of four concerts annually. The WSA sponsors a Youth Orchestra consisting of 60 students with 2 performances held annually and 2 youth choirs of 50 area students.

Accepted by audition, the Waco Symphony Youth Orchestra performs a concert each fall and spring. Over sixty students from the Central Texas area participate in the orchestra. The Waco Symphony Children's Choir is celebrating its fifth season with the Waco Symphony Association, Inc. The Children's Choir offers young men and women the opportunity for vocal music study and choral performance. The members of the group are chosen by audition and live in Waco and the surrounding communities.

The Youth Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth includes five orchestras with an enrollment of approximately 300 students ranging in age from 3-19. Weekly full rehearsals at Orchestra Hall, September through May, and scheduled sectional rehearsals with professional musicians. The Senior Youth Orchestra has a major concert tour outside the U.S. every three or four years. The Junior Youth Orchestra has weekend concert trip yearly. Auditions are held in May and August. Size of ensembles: Youth Orchestra (120 members), Junior Youth Orchestra (124 members), String Orchestra (47 members), and Suzuki School (37 members).

Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA) provides superior orchestral, educational, cultural, and performance oppurtunities to young musicians in the San Antonio metropolitan area. Over 350 young musicians, ages 8-21 study in one of the five orchestras or beginning/intermediate string education classes. Placement is determined by auditions, which are held in May and August or by special appointment. The YOSA program includes weekly rehearsals, sectional coaching, performance oppurtunities, chamber music, master classes, performance tours, and a summer string camp.
