Ferry Schedule

Throughout the year, more than 8 million people use the TxDOT ferry system. The peak months for ferry use are June, July and August.

Schedule: Port Aransas

The ferries at Port Aransas run 24-hours a day, 365 days a year on an "as needed" basis.

Typically, a ferry will depart from each terminal every 10-20 minutes. The schedule varies depending upon the traffic load, weather conditions and ship channel traffic. For additional information, call (361) 749-2850.

Schedule: Galveston-Port Bolivar

Galveston ferry operation is currently operating one vessel 24 hours per day. A second vessel will be placed in service at 5:30 a.m. After the 7 a.m. departure, the two vessels will operate based on traffic volumes, and will space themselves to carry traffic as efficiently and safely as possible. A third vessel will be placed in service during the afternoon period as vessels and crews availability permit.

Note: When operating three or more ferries, the vessels will be equally spaced to move traffic as quickly, safely and efficiently as possible. For additional information, including current traffic, call (409) 795-2230.

Summer Schedule
The ferries at Galveston-Port Bolivar maintain base ferry service with two vessels. A third, fourth or fifth vessel will be placed into service as crews and vessels are available. Expect heavy traffic and delays on holidays.

Night Schedule
The table below shows the night schedule (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.), which will be maintained as closely as possible. At 5:30 a.m., a second vessel enters into service and coordinates with the first vessel to move traffic as efficiently as possible during the day.
