Address Changes, Employer Changes, Firm Changes

ECHO (Engineer's Cash Handling Online) is the Board's online system. PEs can use this system to check license expiration, renew a license, track continuing education, update contact information and print out a temporary pocket card. Firms can use this system to change contact information, update the PEs or officers at the firm, update the branches, renew the firm registration or print out a temporary certificate. Exam Information

Online Registration for the October 2009 PE and FE exams is now closed. The deadline was September 4, 2009. Refer to the Exam Dates Page for future exam dates and deadlines.


Refer to the NCEES website for revised calculator policies, what personal items can be brought into the exam room and the latest candidate agreement. Failure to follow these policies can result in dismissal from an exam.

NCEES Proctoring Change
Effective with the October 2010 exam administration, proctoring will not be allowed in any state. Military exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. For additional information, refer to the NCEES site at: https://www.ncees.org/examadministration/registration.php

Stakeholder Meeting Announcement - Monday October 19, 2009, 10:00 AM, Texas Board of Professional Engineers, 1917 South IH 35, Austin, Texas

Meeting Topic - The Engineering aspects of the preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans and Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plans. We invite individuals to comment on what elements of the preparation of these plans constitute the practice of engineering. Please attend the stakeholder meeting to discuss this issue with Board representatives or send your comments to us prior to the meeting date for inclusion in the discussion. Please contact our office if you have questions.

New Law & Rules Document

Changes Pending for NCEES
The NCEES Board of Directors recently authorized the dissolution of ELSES, LLC and going forward, ELSES will operate as a division of NCEES. This is simply a name change; there will be no changes to the method or manner in which services are provided to the Board. During the transition, the websites www.els-examreg.org and www.elses.org will still direct visitors to the correct place for registration and information.

Recent Rule Change Requiring Firm Name and Number on Engineering Work

Board Rules §137.33 and §137.77 have been changed to require that all engineering documents released, issued, or submitted by or for a registered engineering firm, including preliminary documents, must clearly indicate the engineering firm name and registration number. It is both the responsibility of the PE that signs and seals a document and the firm that releases the document to verify that the firm name and number appear on the engineering work.
