(FREDERICKSBURG, VA) — In addition to Senator Leticia Van de Putte's legislative efforts to protect Camp Bullis, she also leads the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Military & Veteran Affairs Taskforce. This taskforce includes state legislators from across the United States who are committed to supporting active duty military installations and providing critical services to our veterans.

Senator Van de Putte was a VIP Guest at Fort A.P. Hill in Fredericksburg, Virginia and witnessed the signing of the Army Compatible Use Buffer (ACUB) partnership. The ACUB is a process where the Army forms community partnerships to establish buffer areas around military installations to mitigate the effects of encroachment and maximize land use inside the installation to support the installation's mission. These partnerships preserve the local habitats and limit incompatible development in the vicinity of military installations.

She was joined at the signing ceremony by fellow Texan, well-respected Houston businessman John Nau III, who serves as the national Chairman of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. Also in attendance was Tad Davis, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army, and Colonel Maria Gervais, Commander of the U.S. Army Environmental Command. Senator Van de Putte welcomes Colonel Gervais and the Army Environmental Command as they begin transitioning to Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio.
