                                 CE AUDIT REMINDER
Don't renew your license without making sure your CE requirements have been met.  A fraudulent renewal can
result in license suspension or revocation, and/or other disciplinary action.

Take the Jurisprudence Exam Now           Renew Online Now

Every time you renew your license, you must take the jurisprudence exam.  The exam is "open book", meaning you can read through the rules to find your answers.  (NOTE: The jurisprudence exam does NOT satisfy CE requirements for either board.)

When you pass the exam, you will see a page with the results of your exam and a 10-digit EXAM KEY CODE. You will need the code and your license number to renew your license.

YOU MUST PRINT OUT OR WRITE DOWN THE KEY CODE before you leave the page, or you will have to take the exam again to get the key code. AGENCY STAFF CANNOT GIVE YOU THE KEY CODE OVER THE PHONE.

4Renew online through Texas Online, the completely online process which is available to current, active licensees only.
4Renew by mail by printing out a renewal form and mailing it to the Board.

Renew Online
This method is only for licensees with current, active licenses.  If your renewal is late, you cannot renew online.

  1. Login to the renewal system using your license number and your exam key code. (If you are an OT, don't forget that your license number is now a 6-digit number). If you do not know your license number, you can find it on our license verification page.
  2. Enter any changes to your address and personal information.
  3. Answer the question which asks if you have met all renewal requirements, including continuing education requirements.
  4. Pay by credit card or check.
  5. Print out your transaction receipt. This receipt can serve as temporary proof of renewal for (no more than) 30 DAYS while you are waiting for your renewal certificate to arrive in the mail.  WARNING: If the process is completed after midnight of the day your license expires according to the date stamp on the electronic record we receive from the State Comptroller’s Office, your renewal is incomplete until you pay the late fee and receive your official renewal certificate in the mail. We cannot process your renewal without the late fee. You may not work on the basis of the printed transaction receipt if you complete the renewal process late and owe a late fee.

Renew by Mail
This method is for those who are renewing an inactive license, changing license status (active to inactive and vice versa), changing a name, or who cannot pay online. Payment is by check only if you choose this method.

  1. Download the blank renewal form available on our PT Forms or OT Forms page.
  2. Complete the form, sign it, and mail it with your check to the address on the instructions page.
  3. Wait until you're renewal certificate arrives in the mail. There is no “temporary receipt” available for this method. If your license expires before you receive the renewal certificate, you may not practice.

You may not renew online after your license expires. For assistance with this or any other renewal question or problem, please contact the Renewals Dept. at 512/305-6900.
