Texas EBT and LSIS Programs

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) - Lone Star Business Services (LSBS) team manages and supports the Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system for food stamps and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) programs and the Lone Star Image System (LSIS).

• EBT Program:  Uses the Lone Star card (a magnetic-stripe plastic debit card) to provide clients with access to food stamp and TANF benefits

• LSIS Program:  An electronic finger imaging system that obtains, transmits, and matches finger images of prospective food stamp and TANF clients during the eligibility process
