Product Safety

Whether it be food, medicine, toys or automobiles, goods you purchase should be safe.

If you have a concern that a consumer product such as a toy, power tool or household chemical is unsafe report it to our office and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). CPSC regulates the safety of over 15,000 different kinds of consumer products.

If you believe a food or medicinal drug is unsafe, you can report it to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Food & Drug Administration. Our office has worked with DSHS in the past to take action against food warehouses and manufacturers in Texas that were not safe and hygienic.

In addition the FDA is responsible for ensuring that foods are safe, wholesome, and correctly labeled. It ensures that a host of other goods are safe and effective including medicines, medical devices, vaccines, cosmetics, animal feed, and electronic products that emit radiation (such as microwave ovens and video monitors).

If you have concerns about flight safety, contact the Federal Aviation Administration. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSF) protects the public against auto safety risks.
