Renovation Update: Changes in times
and services during construction
Renovation of the historic Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and
Library Building is underway. The Texas State Library and Archives
Commission will remain open for business during the renovation,
but some services and collections have changed and will be limited
during this period. We appreciate your patience during the renovation,
which is expected to be complete in the spring of 2010. Before you

Building Renovation
Renovation of the historic Lorenzo de Zavala State
Archives and Library Building is underway. We will remain open for

The Lorenzo DeZavala Archives & Library Building
at 1201 Brazos St is undergoing renovation and these divisions or
business units have been temporarily relocated to 1101 Camino La
Costa:
- Talking Book Program (Call Center, Administrative Services,
and Public Information)
- Library Development (including Federal and State Grant Programs
as well as Continuing
Education)
- Library Resource Sharing
- Accounting

Location at the Capitol Complex
Except as noted below, all State Library offices
and collections are located in the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives
and Library Building, 1201 Brazos Street, directly east of the Texas
State Capitol in downtown Austin.
Directions
If arriving by car from U.S. Interstate Highway
35, take the 15th Street exit and head west on 15th Street. From
Texas Loop 1 (MoPac), take the Enfield Road exit and head east -
Enfield Road turns into 15th Street. From 15th, take San Jacinto
Street south; the building will be on the right between 13th and
12th Streets. (Look for the six seals of Texas government along
the back of the building.)
Parking at the Capitol Complex
Parking is available in the Capitol Visitors Parking
Garage located between 13th and 12th, Trinity and San Jacinto Streets.
Parking is free for the first two hours and $.75 for each half hour
thereafter (maximum charge: $6.00). Metered spaces are available
throughout the complex.

State Records Center and Talking Book Circulation

Location
The State
and Local Records Management Division, as well as the Talking
Book Program's circulation department, are both located at the
State Records Center Building at 4400 Shoal Creek Boulevard in Northwest
Austin.
Directions and Parking
The training facility is at 4400 Shoal Creek Blvd.,
Austin, Texas, 78756. We are located between IH-35 and the MoPac
Freeway (Loop 1), and one block south of 45th St.
From IH-35 going South: Take the Airport Blvd. exit
(exit # 237) and turn right (west). Continue approximately 100 yards
to 45th St. and turn left onto 45th St. Shoal Creek Blvd. will be
about 2 miles down 45th St. Turn left (south) onto Shoal Creek Blvd.
The Records Center will be on the right side of 45th St.
From IH-35 going North: Take the Airport Blvd.

100 yards to 45th St. and turn left onto 45th St. Shoal Creek Blvd.

1/2 mile. Turn right (south) onto Shoal Creek Blvd. The Records
Center will be on the right side of 45th St.
From MoPac (Loop 1) going South: Take the 45th St.
exit and turn left at the stop sign (south). Follow the curve and
continue on 45th St., Shoal Creek Blvd. will be approximately 1/2
mile. Turn right (south) onto Shoal Creek Blvd. The Records Center
will be on the right side of 45th St.
Complimentary visitor parking is available in building's

The Sam Houston Center in Liberty is open Monday
through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm and Saturday, 9 am - 4 pm.

Houston Regional Library & Research Center, a unit of the
Archives
and Information Services Division, is located near Liberty,
Texas, between Houston and Beaumont. The Center is located three
miles north of Liberty at 650 FM 1011, off of State Highway 146.

Building Renovation

(TSLAC) offices at this location are open 8-5, M-F.
Driving Directions
Going north on IH-35: Take the 2222 West Exit (Exit
238 A). Stay on the service road of IH-35, going through the intersection
that runs above 290. Get into the far right lane and make a right
turn between Pappadeaux's Restaurant and Doubletree Hotel onto La
Posada. At the first stop sign, turn right on Camino La Costa. Building
will be on the right.
Going south on IH-35: Exit ramp for Exit 238B-A
(290 East and 2222 West). Take the right-hand branch, for 2222 West
(238 A). Once you are down on the access road, stay to the left
so you can take the turnaround under the overpass. Head north on
the service road of I.H. 35, get into the far right lane and make
a right turn onto La Posada Drive between Pappadeaux's Restaurant
and Doubletree Hotel. At the first stop sign, turn right on Camino
La Costa. Building will be on the right.
Going north on Hwy 183: Pass highway 290, make a left turn at the
second light onto Cameron Road. Travel approximately 0.7 miles and
take a right on Camino La Costa beside Cash Pawn and follow the
road as it curves to the left. The building will be on the left.
Going south on Hwy 183: Pass IH-35 and turn right
on Cameron Road. Make sure you are in the far right lane once you
pass IH-35 in order to be in position to turn right on Cameron Road.
Travel about 0.7 miles on Cameron Road and take a right at Camino
La Costa beside Cash Pawn. Camino La Costa will curve to the left
and the building will be on the left.
