Lexis & Westlaw Agreements

Office of Court Administration

Announcement Letter

In 2000, the Texas Office of Court Administration ("OCA") and the Judicial Committee on Information Technology ("JCIT") negotiated and implemented statewide contracts with LEXIS-NEXIS and with WEST GROUP for affordable on-line computer assisted legal research for the Texas judiciary.

These two contracts allow any qualified judicial entity to contract with either or both companies to receive the legal research services at special prices and terms. Qualified judicial entities include all judges in the state judiciary (including designated members of their staff), staff at the State Law Library, county law librarians, prosecutors, public defenders, and others. They purchase the services directly from Lexis-Nexis or West Group, and are billed directly by the respective company. The OCA and JCIT are pleased to have negotiated a cost-effective, on-line solution to the varied legal research needs of the Texas judiciary.
