Revenue Collection / Confiscations

All persons who have liquor or cigarettes confiscated should receive a receipt from the taxpayer compliance officer. If you did not receive a receipt, please e-mail poe@tabc.state.tx.us.

During the 2008 Fiscal Year, Ports of Entry taxpayer compliance officers confiscated and destroyed 12,357 alcoholic beverage and cigarette containers. These containers were confiscated for the following reasons:

  • importations in excess of legal limits,
  • importations not declared,
  • persons refusing to pay the required taxes and fees,
  • importations by intoxicated persons,
  • importations attempted by persons under 21 years of age, and
  • persons not having proper ID.

The charts below show the revenue collected, number of containers stamped, and number of containers confiscated annually from Fiscal Year 2003 to Fiscal Year 2008.
