Academic
Excellence Indicator System Reports (AEIS)
The AEIS reports pull together a wide range of information
on the performance of students in each school and district
in Texas every year. These reports are posted online
in the fall.
Accountability
Ratings
Texas annually rates its public schools and districts on the academic
performance of their students.
Adequate Yearly
Progress
Under the accountability provisions in the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act,
all public school campuses, school districts, and the state are evaluated for
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). The state plan for meeting federal AYP
requirements and related information are available online.
Alternative Education Accountability (AEA)
Under the state accountability system, alternative education campuses have the
option to be evaluated under alternative education accountability (AEA) procedures
and receive accountability ratings based on different performance standards and
indicators/measures than those used for regular campuses.
Blue Ribbon
Schools
The Secretary of Education has established the No Child Left Behind --
Blue Ribbon Schools Program to recognize and present as models those elementary
and secondary schools in the United States that make significant progress in
closing the achievement gap or whose students achieve at very high levels.
Division
of Accountability Research
The Division of Accountability Research publishes annual
reports on secondary school completion and dropouts,
grade-level retention, college entrance examinations
(SAT and ACT), and Advanced Placement and International
Baccalaureate examinations, and a biennial report on

Annual Report to the legislature on Texas public schools.
In addition, the division is responsible for governance
of data submissions to the Texas Education Agency.
Dropout
Prevention
Information on effective dropout prevention programs and practices, availability
of funding for dropout prevention and recovery programs, and other related
resources for enabling local schools to implement effective dropout prevention
and recovery efforts and help all students to earn a high school diploma.

accountability ratings as well as Gold Performance Acknowledgments. It also
