Texas Breed Registries

The Texas Racing Act (V.T.C.S. Art. 179e) establishes the Texas Bred Incentive Programs for both horses and greyhounds. Under the programs, a portion of the money wagered on pari-mutuel races are returned to Texas-based breeders of racing horses and greyhounds as incentive awards for breeding racing stock in Texas.

The Act designates the organizations which serve as the official state registries for greyhounds and for the various breeds of horse. These organizations establish, subject to the approval of the Texas Racing Commission, the qualifications for participation in the Texas Bred Incentive Programs and the manner in which the breeder awards are distributed.
