About the Academic Library Statistics

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) has collected data annually from libraries in four-year public and private academic institutions, two-year academic institutions, and medical and law institutions of Texas. Every other year, statistical data on Texas academic libraries has been reported to the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) as part of the federal IPEDS survey series. In 2000, the Academic Library Statistics was for the first time collected directly by NCES via a web-based survey. The national Academic Libraries Survey is conducted biennially in even-numbered years. Survey data collected by NCES is posted at www.nces.ed.gov.

Data for all even-numbered years is available in the NCES Data Files and Documentation for ALS.
