Education and Prevention Programs

The education and prevention staff oversee agency programs involving educating the public, retailers and their employees of the laws associated with consuming alcoholic beverages. They lead the agency’s efforts to prevent illegal underage drinking, illegally making alcohol available to minors, as well as driving while intoxicated. The staff work with different statewide and local agencies, community coalitions and other groups to share information as well as participate in various programs to prevent underage drinking.

Community Outreach

In addition to offering educational opportunities to retailers, TABC agents are actively involved in local community events around the state ranging from job and health fairs to conventions and symposiums. During these events, agents will often field questions from the public about the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. These events also allow agents to interact with members of the community they serve in a less formal atmosphere that fosters a cooperative and open discussion about alcohol-related issues. TABC strives to provide the public with information about the agency, alcoholic beverage laws, and programs related to the prevention of underage drinking. No matter if you need an event to reach out to schools, parent groups or community organizations, TABC has something that will appeal to the audience. Some of these programs include:
