Line of Succession of Supreme Court of Texas Clerks of the Court

The Texas Constitution was amended in 1845 to provide a clerk of the court. The clerk is responsible for filing and carefully preserving records certified to the court, docketing causes in the order which the court directs, faithfully recording the proceedings and decisions of the court, certifying the judgments of the court, and collecting fees. In addition, the clerk is responsible for issuing attorney licenses and collecting fees for licenses and bar dues.
