The information contained on the Windstorm Inspection Program's webpage is applicable only to structures located in the following 14 First Tier Counties along the Texas Gulf Coast as indicated in Section 2210.003(3) of the Texas Insurance Code: Aransas, Brazoria, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Galveston, Jefferson, Kenedy, Kleberg, Matagorda, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio, Willacy or in one of the cities east of State Highway 146 in Harris County (La Porte, Morgan's Point, Pasadena, Seabrook, Shoreacres) if the property owners are seeking wind and hail coverage through the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association.

Don’t Be Caught Without Windstorm Insurance Coverage! - After the recent catastrophic hurricane seasons and with many people still trying to put their homes and lives back together, is your home covered for hurricane or other windstorm damage so you won’t be the next victim? If you live in one of the Texas' coastal counties, then you know how devastating and costly a storm can be. Don’t let an unexpected storm cost you. With the latest and most effective wind resistant construction, you will have a stronger structure and a better opportunity to obtain windstorm and hail insurance coverage through the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association or the voluntary market.

For more information about obtaining or maintaining windstorm insurance coverage when you build, remodel, add-on, repair or re-roof a structure, the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) encourages you to contact your insurance agent or the Windstorm Inspection Division of TDI at 800-248-6032 or via e-mail.

Windstorm Online Application

The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) is accepting Online Applications for Certificates of Compliance (WPI-8) for projects specifically using a TDI Appointed Engineer.  The Online Application may be submitted by Engineers, Builders, Agents and Homeowners.  Online Submittal of your Application reduces the amount of time it takes to process your application.

Windstorm (WPI-8) Certificate Search / Print - Use this online tool if you need information on the status of a windstorm application (WPI-1) or if you need to reprint a certificate (WPI-8). Certificate reprints can only be made if a structure has been certified by an appointed engineer or a TDI inspector.

Product Evaluation Index - Windstorm Inspection Program Product Evaluation Index includes products evaluated by the Texas Department of Insurance for use in the designated catastrophe areas along the Texas Gulf Coast.
