What are VIVDS units?
VIVDS units differ from the traditional Closed Circuit Television Camera snapshots available
from TransGuide. VIVDS units use a video detection device to acquire traffic speed,
volume and occupancy. This requires these devices to be mounted and angled in such a
way that the snapshots appear to be focused on a small section of road, and they may also
appear rotated. These cameras cannot pan, tilt and zoom as the standard CCTV cameras can.
While this may have some undesired effects on the quality of the snapshots,
it is necessary to ensure that accurate data is being gathered by the VIVDS units
