Peace Officer Achievement Awards
Annually, the State of Texas honors its most deserving peace officers. To submit a nomination please fill out a Law Enforcement Achievment Awards Packet which can be found on our forms and publications page.
The Achievement Awards Program began in 1990 and has honored
- 69 officers for professional achievement (1 posthumously)
- 83 for public service
- 172 for Valor (3 posthumously)

Peace Officer Memorial
The Peace Officer memorial's home is located on the northeast grounds of the Texas Capitol and lists those officers that have fallen in the line of duty.
Texas Flag Program

Resources for a Peace Officer Line of Duty Death
There many resources from a variety of institutions at your disposal in the event a peace officer dies in the line of duty. Listed below are a number resources available to you. In addition, Agencies can set up a casualty assistance plan using the example casualty assistance Plan provided by the Badge of Honor Memorial Foundation and located on our forms and publications page.

Provides a one time financial benefit to eligible survivors of federal, state, and local police killed in the line of duty.
Department of Health and Human Services Social Security Administration

When someone who has worked and paid into Social Security dies, survivor benefits can be paid to certain family members and may be more than the value of your commercial life insurance.
U.S. Department of Labor Office Workers Compensation Programs

Benefits are provided if a state or local law enforcement is killed while engaged in the apprehension or attempted apprehension of a person who has committed a crime against the U.S.

National Guard
