What training is required for a retired peace officer?
There are no requirements as OC 1701.159(b) states that a retired peace officer holds an inactive license. In order to reactivate that license a retired peace officer must meet the requirements identified in Commission Rule 217.19(f)
(f) In order for a retired peace officer to reactivate a license, a retiree must:
(1) meet the current licensing standards, with successful completion of a basic licensing course current at the time of initial licensure; fulfilling this requirement;
(2) successfully complete the legislatively required continuing education for the current training unit; and
(3) make application and submit any required fee(s) for retired reactivation in the format currently prescribed by the commission.
What training is required for a retired jailer?
There are no requirements, however if you wish to keep your license in an active status you must complete the training requirements of OC 1701.352: Civil Rights, Racial Sensitivity, and Cultural Diversity.

What training is required for someone commissioned as a peace officer and qualified as a Retired State Employee?
To qualify as a retired state employee Texas Occupations Code (OC) 1701.356(b)(2) requires you to have been a state employee with a peace officer license issued on or after 9/1/81 and had an active license on 1/1/1995.
OC 1701.352 requires Cultural Diversity, Special Investigative Topics, and CIT if you have less than an Intermediate Certificate.
What training is required for someone commissioned as a Retired DPS Special Ranger?
Currently there are no training requirements.
