Podiatric Medical Reviewers
(BOARD CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS )

The purpose of the “Podiatric Medical Reviewer” program is to assist the Board in the objective investigation of cases which require a "Medical/ Standard of Care/Scope of Practice" review.

Podiatric Medical Reviewers are licensed Podiatrists who undergo a comprehensive background check to qualify them for participation in the program. Once qualified, the Reviewers are trained on how to investigate cases in accordance with the Podiatric Medical Practice Act of Texas (Texas Occupations Code) and the Board’s Rules & Regulations (Texas Administrative Code). The following are the basic requirements for one to be a Podiatric Medical Reviewer:

  • Hold an Active Texas License for at least 3 years.

  • Be certified through at least one APMA approved surgery Board (preferred).

  • Have surgical staff privileges in at least one general acute care hospital (preferred).

  • Must not have been subject to “Disciplinary Action” by the TSBPME or any other state/ federal agency. Disciplinary Action is defined as: Agreed Order, Reprimand, Warnings, Suspensions, Probation, Revocation, Fines.

  • Must not be “Excluded” from participation in any federal healthcare program such as Medicaid/Medicare.

  • Must not be under investigation by the TSBPME or any other state/federal agency for a violation of any laws relating to the practice of podiatric medicine at the time of appointment.

  • Must not have been the subject of an investigation by the TSBPME for a violation within the last five (5)

  • Must not have a felony conviction of any kind, whether state or federal.

  • Be of good moral character.

  • Must not be “Delinquent” or be in “Default” of any state or federal education loan.

All applications are reviewed by the full Board for approval. The Board may disqualify any applicant, at its discretion, for any perceived conflicts of interest.
