Licensees, make sure "Step 1" is completed before proceeding to
"Step 2." You are submitting information to two (2) separate
"TexasOnline.com" databases which exist under separate authority of law.
Therefore, you will experience redundancy of entries. Your
License Renewal (i.e. "Step 2") will be complete when you receive
a confirmation of payment (be sure to print receipt). Click on the bold blue headers for
access.
-
UPDATE YOUR PHYSICIAN PROFILE. Once completed, then
proceed to "Step 2 - Renew your Texas License" below.
Profiles need to be updated every year upon renewal.
(You may also update your profile at any other time
after renewals when changes occur.) This is
self-reported licensee/office/practice information to
the "Texas OnLine Occupational Profiling System" (TOPS;
TexasOnline.com).
The TOPS system allows the public to view additional
information about you and is essentially a free
advertising service for licensees.
-
RENEW YOUR TEXAS LICENSE. In order to fully
complete this step, you will be prompted to RE-ENTER
previous TOPS information from "Step 1 - Physician Profile." You can pay by
credit card or electronic check. If you do not have
access to a computer and/or the internet, most local
libraries have them available for public use.
- Note: If you are
unable to renew online, click here to
Print Renewal
Form and return the completed renewal form
along with the appropriate fee to our office.
- Note: As of September 1, 2008, TexasOnline.com will
begin a new process where licensees are allowed three (3)
login attempts. If you are unsuccessful after the third
(3rd) attempt, you will be locked out of the system for 24
hours. You can only login after the 24 hour period has
expired.
- Note: There
is an approximate 5-minute "time-out" period for inactivity.
Should you not fully complete the process once started and
leave the system dormant, your session will expire after
5-minutes at which point you will have to start over.
- Note: If your license number only has three (3) digits,
you must enter a leading zero
("0") in order to have a successful "4-digit" login.
- Note:
Please click on the highlighted links
to obtain
"National Provider Identifier" (NPI) information or to
search the
"NPI Registry."
- Note:
Please click on the highlighted link to obtain (state/federal)
"Student Loan Default" information. Licensees must meet and pay all Student Loan obligations; failure to do so will result in investigation/disciplinary action of your license.
- Note:
Please click on the highlighted link to obtain
"Child Support Default/Delinquency" information. Licensees must meet and pay all Child Support obligations; failure to do so will result in investigation/disciplinary action of your license.
► Active Duty Military
Renewals: Pursuant to Texas Occupations Code §202.304, if you are in
full-time Active Duty
Military, you do not need to pay the annual license
renewal fee. However, you do need to renew your Texas
license annually. Click on "Print Renewal Form" above, fully
complete the form and submit it to the Board
along with a
letter from your Commanding Officer affirming your military
status. THANK YOU
FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!
►Inactive License Status:
Construed in accordance with
Texas Occupations Code §202.264 and Board Rule §378.11, a licensee may
place a license on "Inactive Status" by applying for "Inactive
Status" on a form prescribed by the Board before the date of the
expiration of the license and by complying with all license
renewal requirements other than the continuing education
requirements. This "Inactive Status" also allows a licensee to
designate his/her "Inactive Status" as being "Retired." If
choosing the "Retired" designation, the licensee must also
clearly indicate in writing to the Board this "Retired" designation and is
otherwise subject to all "Inactive Status" provisions contained in
Board Rule §378.11. Be advised, a holder of a license that is on
"Inactive Status" may NOT practice podiatric medicine in this
state. The practice of podiatric medicine by a holder of a
license that is on "Inactive Status" constitutes the practice of
podiatric medicine without a license (criminal penalty). A
licensee may remain on "Inactive Status" for four (4) years and is
subject to additional regulations in order to return to "Active
Status." In order to apply for "Inactive Status": 1) Complete
the (click →)
"Annual License
Renewal" form to include
submission of the "Annual Renewal Fee" and 2) Complete the
(click →)
"Licensee Request for Inactive Status"
form.
BOTH forms must be completed and submitted
together. Please contact Board staff at (512)-305-7000 for further
information or assistance.
IMPORTANT LICENSE RENEWAL CONSIDERATIONS:
►Pursuant to acts of the
81st Texas Legislature, the FY 2010/2011
renewal fee has been increased $10.00. This increase is
necessary to ensure the Board's mandates are fully
funded. Fees are: a) $455.00
renewal fee if received at Board office on or before November 1, 2009; b)
$679.50 renewal fee
plus late fee if received at Board office 1-90 days after
expiration date and c) $904.00 renewal fee
plus last fee if received at Board office more than 90 days
after expiration date.
►All licenses expire annually by November 1st.
Licenses not renewed by this deadline are subject to all
administrative and criminal penalties of "Practicing Without A
License." Renewal notices (yellow postcards) will be mailed in
September of each year to your last known address of record.
We recommend that licensees keep their addresses current by
notifying the Board through the "Primary Mailing Address"
link. We also encourage all licensees to renew On-Line and to
continually update your Physician Profile. It is
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to renew your license on time!
- Effective March 4, 2008 (to
be accrued on/after 11/01/2008 for "Even" year licensees and
on/after 11/01/2009 for "Odd" year licensees), you must have
obtained your
50 hours of C.M.E.
each biennium in order to renew your license.
-
If you were originally licensed in an "Even" year,
your C.M.E. biennium begins on November 1 and ends on
October 31st of the next "Even" year. For
example, Jane Doe, D.P.M. was originally licensed in 2006.
Her "Even" year C.M.E. biennium is "11/01/2006 - 10/31/2008"
and follows thereafter.
- If you were originally licensed in an "Odd" year, your
C.M.E. biennium begins on November 1 and ends on October 31st
of the next "Odd" year. For example, John Doe, D.P.M.
was originally licensed in 2007. His "Odd" year C.M.E.
biennium is "11/01/2007 - 10/31/2009" and follows
thereafter.
- All licensees are subject to random C.M.E. audits in
accordance with Board rules.
- All "Even" year licensees audited after October 31, 2010
must be able to produce proof of 50 hours of C.M.E.
beginning with the "11/01/2008 - 10/31/2010" biennium
and thereafter.
- All "Odd" year licensees audited after October 31, 2011
must be able to produce proof of 50 hours of C.M.E.
beginning with the "11/01/2009 - 10/31/2011" biennium
and thereafter.
In addition to the March 4, 2008 C.M.E. rule changes
also mandating a "Two (2)-Hour Ethics / Rules-Regulations /
Healthcare Fraud / Professional Boundaries / Risk Management
/ Jurisprudence" requirement, licensees
are now afforded greater community opportunities to obtain
C.M.E. as set forth below. Be engaged in
your community!
● Board Rule §378.1
"Continuing Education Requirement" provides, in part, that:
(a) Each person licensed to practice
podiatric medicine in the State of Texas is required to have
50 hours of continuing education every two years for the
renewal of the license to practice podiatric medicine. Two
hours of the required 50 hours of biennial continuing
education (CME) shall be a course, class, seminar, or
workshop in: Ethics in the Delivery of Health Care Services
and/or Rules and Regulations pertaining to Podiatric
Medicine in Texas. Topics on Healthcare Fraud, Professional
Boundaries, Practice Risk Management or Podiatric Medicine
related Ethics or Jurisprudence courses, including those
sponsored by an entity approved by CPME, APMA, APMA
affiliated organizations or governmental entities, are
acceptable towards fulfilling this 2 hour requirement.
(b) A licensee shall receive 100% credit for each hour of training (one
hour of training equals one hour of CME) for podiatric
medical meetings and training sponsored by APMA, APMA
affiliated organizations, TPMA, state, county or regional
podiatric medical association podiatric medical meetings,
university sponsored podiatric medical meetings, hospital
podiatric medical meetings or hospital podiatric medical
grand rounds, medical meetings sponsored by the Foot & Ankle
Society or the orthopedic community relating to foot care,
and others at the discretion of the Board. If a podiatric
physician gives a lecture, he/she can receive the same CME
credit that a podiatrist attending the lecture obtains.
(c) A licensee shall receive 100%
credit for each hour of training (one hour of training
equals one hour of CME) for non-podiatric medical sponsored
meetings that are relative to podiatric medicine. The method
used to determine whether the training is "relative" to
podiatric medicine is: "will the training enhance the
knowledge and abilities of the podiatric physician in terms
of improved quality and delivery of patient care?" One
hundred percent credit shall also be assigned to hospital
grand rounds, hospital CME programs, corporate sponsored
meetings, and meetings sponsored by the American Medical
Association, the orthopedic community, the American Diabetes
Association, the Nursing Association, the Physical Therapy
Association, and others at the discretion of the Board.
- If your license is EXPIRED ("DELINQUENT") or
CANCELLED please read the following carefully.
- Licensees who have submitted late renewals or have yet to
submit a renewal have been placed in a “Delinquent” status.
Please call the Board (512-305-7000) to determine if the
renewal was received and if the license is “Active.” PENALTY
FEES ACCRUE AFTER November 1st.
- Until September 9, 2007, a licensee in a “Delinquent” status is not
fully prohibited from practicing. A licensee can be in a “Delinquent” status
for one year from the time of the renewal period (deadline is November
1st of each year) expiration, accruing penalty fees. If any entity providing the
licensee clinical privileges wishes to restrict a licensee in a “Delinquent”
status, for liability reasons, they may do so.
- Effective September 10, 2007, all "Delinquent" licenses
are subject to all administrative/criminal penalties of
"Practicing Without A License." Any
licensee in a "Delinquent" status shall not practice
Podiatric Medicine; criminal act pursuant to Texas
Occupations Code §202.605. There will no longer be a one
year grace period. However,
"Delinquent" license holders will have one year to renew their
license with PENALTY FEES from November 1st before their
license is "Cancelled."
- Any
licensee in a "Cancelled" status shall not practice
Podiatric Medicine; criminal act pursuant to Texas
Occupations Code §202.605.
"Cancelled" licensees are required to fully re-apply for
licensure. That includes re-taking the TSBPME
jurisprudence examination and having completed a one-year
residency program accredited by CPME.
- Due to the high volume of
renewal applications and phone calls, Board staff will
NOT fax
renewal certificates. Your certificate will be mailed to you
or you can check the status of your renewal by clicking on the
"License Verifications" link.
- Again, be sure to update your
address with the Board. You may do that by mail, fax, e-mail
or by clicking on the "Primary Mailing Address" link above
(top right).
- We appreciate your
attention to these considerations and your cooperation to
renew your license on time. The sooner you renew your license,
the sooner you will receive your renewal certificate. Board
staff will attend to all calls in order of priority.
