Schools Partnerships

Energy Efficiency Partnership: Personalized on-site technical assistance to public schools, hospitals, colleges and universities.

  • analysis of utility bills
  • recommended maintenance procedures and capital energy retrofits; monitoring procedures to control run times
  • informal on-site training for building operators and maintenance staff
  • development of an Energy Management Policy
  • assistance with the development of guidelines for efficiency levels of future equipment purchases.

Services include an analysis of systems for code and standard compliance in areas such as cooling system refrigerants used, outside air quality, and lighting illumination levels.

Energy Management Training: Administrative and technical training for energy managers, school officials, building operators, and others responsible for energy-efficient facility operation.

Workshops have two tracks:

  • Administrative track covers energy accounting, energy retrofit financing and energy program planning and evaluation.
  • Technical track covers state-of-the-art energy management technologies and energy efficient building design.

Of the 180 preliminary energy assessments conducted in the past four years, over $10.6 million has been identified as potential energy savings.

Sustainable School Design: Sustainable building design initiative encourages schools, state agencies, architects and contractors to design and construct sustainable buildings that consume less fossil fuel, limit environmental impacts and improve worker health and productivity.
