TexNet Interlibrary Loan
TexNet is a statewide interlibrary loan network including
academic, public and special libraries throughout Texas.
Managed by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission,
it embodies several grant programs that work together to enable
library users access to materials not available at their local
library. It also works with other programs in Texas, the Southwest,
and the country to promote resource sharing and provide greater
access to information for all Texans.
TexNet Interlibrary Loan Centers
There are ten TexNet Interlibrary
Loan Centers around the state. Nine are in large public
libraries and the other one is at the State Library and Archives
Commission. These TexNet Centers provide interlibrary loan
and OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) referral service
for smaller, non-OCLC member libraries in their service region.
They also loan materials to other libraries throughout Texas
and the world.

Texas Group
In FY 1994 the Texas State Library and Archives Commission
formed the Texas Group, an OCLC Group Access Capability (GAC)
group that includes both OCLC member libraries and non-OCLC
members. The Texas Group enables libraries that are not members
of OCLC to use the OCLC database to process their interlibrary
loan requests. Since 1994 the Texas Group has grown to over
190 libraries.
Project Loan
Through the Project Loan program the State Library reimburses
Texas libraries that are not TexNet Centers for net loans
provided to Texas public libraries using the OCLC system.
Any Texas library (excluding TexNet Centers) that provides
a minimum of 100 net loans is eligible for a reimbursement
contract.

on the Interlibrary
Loan Study Task Force blog. See links to the charge, member
roster, fact sheet and more information on task force activities.
The Task Force is charged to evaluate the models described
in the Texas
Resource Sharing Study and to suggest possible pilot projects.
TSLAC commissioned the Interlibrary Loan Study as a follow-up
to the Himmel and
Wilson Study on Public Library Development. The Interlibrary
Loan Study presents six different models for improving ILL
in Texas.
We encourage discussion and invite feedback from the library
community and invite everyone to comment on the study. Leave
