Mapping the Global Muslim Population

A new, comprehensive study of more than 200 countries finds that there are 1.57 billion Muslims of all ages living in the world today, representing 23% of an estimated 2009 world population of 6.8 billion. The report by the Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life offers the most up-to-date and fully sourced estimates of the size and distribution of the worldwide Muslim population.

Pew Biomedical Scholar Wins Nobel Prize

Rebecca W. Rimel, President and CEO of The Pew Charitable Trusts, congratulates Pew Biomedical Scholar Carol W. Greider, Ph.D., on receiving the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. In 1990, Dr. Greider was selected as a Pew Scholar in the Biomedical Sciences, receiving support over four years for her research in telomere length regulation.
