Photo essay: Alter Bridge @ the Ogden Theatre |Check It >>

While it’s true that three out of four members of Alter Bridge are in Creed, the band effectively carved out its own identity at the Ogden Theatre on Saturday night, due in large part to the stage presence and unique voice of frontman Myles Kennedy. The band garnered huge applause by playing songs from all three of their albums, including chunky renditions of “Find the Real,” “Buried...

The Elway’s location in Cherry Creek has a summer music series that is inexplicably popular. Sure, the steakhouse’s back patio is a decent place to see a show, and some of the acts are understandably popular. But if you ask me, this year’s line-up — released...

Live review: James Blunt @ the Fillmore Auditorium |Check It >>

On Saturday night at the Fillmore, a bearded, T-shirt wearing man wandered through the audience. Who knows how long he had been standing in the crowd? Unassuming and a bit understated, no one really took notice until the band took the stage without a lead singer, and a spotlight landed on him. English born singer-songwriter James Blunt took the stage by walking through the crowd, shaking hands and...

Live review: J Mascis @ the Hi-Dive |Check It >>

J Mascis earned his godfather-of-grunge status as frontman of seminal ’80s/’90s alternative pioneers Dinosaur Jr. But on Thursday night, he earned much love and respect from the full crowd at the Hi-Dive as he shared an intimate, moving set of stripped-down songs punctuated by Mascis’ signature mournful croon and some wicked acoustic/electric guitar gymnastics. Live review: Charlie Sheen @ the Wells Fargo Theatre |Check It >>

Actor Charlie Sheen lacked the power of tiger blood at his 18th tour stop in Denver on Thursday night. Charlie Sheen ranted his way through his tour’s 18th show Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Theatre, admittedly “pacing like a caged lion” on the lecture hall’s expansive stage. Was Sheen’s event a concert? A stand-up gig? Story hour with Charlie? No, his latest “Violent...

Photo essay: Alter Bridge @ the Ogden Theatre

Alterbridge @ Ogden Theater

Alter Bridge brought its alternative rock to the Ogden Theatre on Saturday. Photos by Alan Cox, heyreverb.com.

While it’s true that three out of four members of Alter Bridge are in Creed, the band effectively carved out its own identity at the Ogden Theatre on Saturday night, due in large part to the stage presence and unique voice of frontman Myles Kennedy. The band garnered huge applause by playing songs from all three of their albums, including chunky renditions of “Find the Real,” “Buried Alive” and “Slip to the Void.” Mark Tremonti’s signature guitar sound from both bands was intact and you had to believe a lot of the attendees were Creed fans, but Myles Kennedy’s soulful vocals likely left none wishing Creed vocalist Scott Stapp was at the helm. Given the band’s former feverish popularity, this was a worthy accomplishment.
